AlDub has been recognized by Guinness World Records as record breaking in the 10-year history of Twitter.

Guinness World Records cited the hashtag #AlDubEBTamangPanahon as the “Most used hashtag in 24 hours” on Twitter.

The hashtag used for the October 2015 concert at the Philippine Arena was included in Guinness's article titled "10 years of Twitter: Five key tweets that made record-breaking history."

In the article published to celebrate Twitter’s 10th anniversary, Guinness World Records indicated that the said hashtag was tweeted by 40,706,392 users from October 24-25, 2015.

The article described AlDub as "the collective term for a celebrity couple based in the Philippines that appear on the variety show Eat Bulaga."

In this particular episode, Alden Richards and Yaya Dub (played by Maine Mendoza) were given the chance to be physically present on one stage instead of just seeing each other through split screen.

Around 55,000 people trooped to the Philippine Arena in Bulacan to witness the event, which also served as a fundraising event for select libraries nationwide.

Guinness also cited the first tweet posted by Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey in 2006 and the feat achieved by Caitlyn Jenner when her account recorded the fastest time to reach one million followers.

Another historical Twitter milestone is the “Oscars selfie” that is considered the most retweeted message and the most famous celebrity picture of recent times. The photo of Hollywood stars including Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Meryl Streep at the 86th Academy Awards gained over 2.6 million retweets, according to Guinness.

The record for "Most tweets per minute" was set during Germany's victory over Argentina during the 2014 World Cup.
