Before she became a part of GMA-7's youth-oriented show Click, did you know that Angel Locsin originally auditioned for a role in rival show G-Mik aired on ABS-CBN?
She revealed this during her October 19 guest appearance in ABS-CBN's morning show Magandang Buhay.
Angel reminisced the days when she was discovered by a talent scout inside a grocery store. She auditioned for Star Circle Batch 9 and became part of Batch 9-C.
She recalled, "Yung sa Star Magic noon, parang may nasalihan kasi akong contest noon tapos isa sa mga prize niya, magkakaroon ka ng chance makapag-workshop sa Star Circle."
Angel diclosed that she auditioned for a role in G-Mik as the love team partner of John Prats.
"Nag-audition ako sa G-Mik, hindi ako nakuha. For John Prats dapat [na ka-loveteam].
"Naaalala ko, nag-paa ako kasi naka-heels ako tapos nalaman ko si John Prats pala [yung partner].
"Nag-paa ako talaga sa audition as in tina-try kong liitan yung sarili ko!
"Hindi naman po kaliitan si Pratty, ha. Pero kasi di ba, pag leading lady, dapat may height kasing tinitignan.
"E, si Heart [Evangelista] yung katabi ko. So ayun po."
The role eventually went to Heart Evangelista, who was part of Batch 9-B. Heart made it to the final list of talents launched in Star Circle Batch 9 with G-Mik as her first show.
Because of this, the love team of Heart and John became so popular that they also topbilled Berks, another youth-oriented show that replaced G-Mik.
Angel then later on became a part of the second batch of GMA-7's Click in 2002, where she played Charley, the twin sister of Enzo (Richard Gutierrez). In the series, she was first paired with Bryan Revilla.
When a re-shuffling of love teams happened, Angel had Railey Valeroso as her love team partner until they left the Kapuso show in 2004 to make way for a new set of talents including StarStruck season one graduates Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras.
Of course, it is also known in television history that G-Mik (and later on, Berks) and Click were head-to-head rivals in their timeslot and genre.
Angel found success in her career when she was tapped as Richard's leading lady in the telefantasya Mulawin in 2004. Angel became an even bigger star when she bagged the lead role in GMA's version of Darna in 2005.
Meanwhile, Heart transferred to GMA in 2007 and became Richard's leading lady in Codename: Asero. It is also in the same year when Angel transferred to ABS-CBN and did Lobo with Piolo Pascual in 2008.
Just recently, Heart also reminisced her moments when she started in showbiz through the role of Missy in G-Mik.
