GMA-7's long-running noontime show Eat Bulaga! holds its first live show on its new studio today, December 8.
After 23 years of holding its shows at Broadway Centrum in Quezon City, Eat Bulaga! has transferred to its new home—the APT Studios, located at Cainta, Rizal.
To celebrate its new milestone, Eat Bulaga! opened the show with an almost-30-minute number featuring its present hosts.
The show was opened by Sebastian "Baeby Baste" Benedict, who sang an a cappella version of Eat Bulaga's theme song.
Eat Bulaga's Hype Kids winners showcased their talents in drums, dancing, and singing, together with Ryzza Mae Dizon.
As the Hype Kids singers were singing the theme song, the LED screen flashed the logos of Eat Bulaga! through its 40 years on television.
Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza appeared on the stage for a dance number.
They were later joined by other Dabarkads: Allan K., Ruby Rodriguez, Pia Guanio, Pauleen Luna, Luanne Dy, and Maureen Wroblewitz.
Dabarkads is the term used for Eat Bulaga's cast members.
After the dance number, Eat Bulaga! aired a video showing their past studios, including their transfer from RPN 9 to ABS-CBN in 1989 and from ABS-CBN to GMA-7 in 1995.
Eat Bulaga's main trio—Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon—then took the TV audience to a short tour in their dressing room.
Vic then did some "walling" as they walked on the hallway going to the stage, while Joey can be heard saying, "Amoy pintura pa, pare."
The main hosts then joined the Dabarkads in singing Eat Bulaga's theme song and together they welcomed the audience in their new studio.
Tito said, "Tuloy po kayo sa bagong tahanan ng isang libo't isang tuwa."
Maine also announced that viewers who want to watch live can have an easier access to the APT Studios, as jeepney rides going there have Eat Bulaga! sign boards.
The hosts also did the "peek-a-boo" gesture, where the title Eat Bulaga! was based.
Amboy, the little boy featured in Eat Bulaga's new studio teaser, was also part of the opening with his now-popular paper airplane made of a tabloid page.
Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Anjo Yllana, Jimmy Santos, and Ryan Agoncillo were not at the APT Studios, as they were holding the "Juan For All, All For Juan" segment in Cavite.
It was in November 23 when Eat Bulaga! first aired a teaser about its new studio.
Joey de Leon and Ruby Rodriguez were among the hosts who expressed their excitement over the new studio.
