The preliminary competition for Miss Universe 2021 served some unforgettable moments and entertaining highlights.
Held in Eilat, Israel, the pageant was hosted by Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza and American TV personality Carson Kressley.
While they managed to sustain the energy throughout the show, some of their minor bloopers still didn't escape the viewers.
During the early part of the swimsuit competition, there was a point when they spoke at the same time, and they were briefly confused about whose turn was it to say the spiels.
Then Andrea mistakenly introduced Miss Venezuela as Miss Vietnam when the former entered the stage for the swimsuit portion.
Meanwhile, it was exciting to see most of the 80 candidates perform so well.
The only glitch was when two of them almost tripped on stage during the evening gown competition.
Miss Brazil almost slipped as she was walking down the three-step stairs onstage.
But she didn't let that stop her from keeping her smile in place and maintaining her confidence as she made her way in front of the judges.
Miss Bulgaria, for her part, looked a bit stiff when she came out in her evening gown.
She seemed to be bothered about the extended train of her long gown.
True enough, she tripped—but thankfully didn't fall— just when she was walking at the center of the stage.
MJ LASTIMOSA'S FUNNY comments
MJ Lastimosa also served her usual witty comments on social media.
She was seated among the audience as part of the Philippine entourage.
And when Miss Peru came onstage during the swimsuit competition, MJ couldn't help but notice the party horns brought by the candidate's fans to cheer for their bet.
"May torotot sila! Lugi tayo!" MJ jokingly exclaimed during her livestream on Instagram.
MJ also quipped about how Urvashia Rautela, who represented India in Miss Universe 2015, and is currently a pageant judge, cheered for this year's Miss India.
Our very own Marian Rivera is also among the panel of judges, so MJ asked if the Kapuso actress can also cheer for Miss Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez.
"Taray ni madam urvashi pumapalakpak kay india, nakunakunaku miss Marian same energy plisss hahahaha," MJ tweeted.
Netizens quickly pointed out that Marian was consistently rooting for Bea, too.
The actress was seen looking so proud and clapping her hands enthusiastically when she saw Bea during the opening number of the prelims show.

Meanwhile, some Filipino pageant fans commented about the time and duration of the preliminary competition that started at around 1:30 a.m. and finished at 3:30 a.m. (Philippine time) because of the six-hour time difference.
Then it was followed by the National Costume show that ended at 6:30 a.m. 
Even Andrea Meza, who also co-hosted the National Costume show, seemed to be exhausted already, and began stuttering.
