Jay Manalo wows the US-based Pinoys

Jay shares his souvenir shots when he flew to Los Angeles, California.

Taken in front of the Kodak Theater, the new and permanent home of the Oscar Awards. Jay is with Ina Alegre, a model for Pepita Jeans in London, who flew to Los Angeles to receive her award from Gawad Amerika for achievements in international modeling.

Jay Manalo flew to California last December 2005 to receive another best-actor award (after receiving an Urian). This time, it came from Gawad Amerika, a three-year-old Los Angeles-based independent award-giving body that recognizes the achievements of Filipino artists.

Jay bagged the award for TV Best Actor for his performance as Maricel Soriano’s Vietnamese lover in ABS-CBN’s defunct soap, Vietnam Rose. The TV Best Actress trophy went to Sunshine Dizon, who won for her portrayal of a villainous princess in GMA-7’s Encantadia.

The awards ceremony was held on December 23 at Hollywood’s Celebrity Center. Jay returned to the Philippines on January 7.
