We can’t blame Marvin Agustin if he sees his identical twins, Santiago and Sebastian, as his lucky charms. With fatherhood came a booming business and an acting award.
In December of year 2005, four months after the twins’ birth, Marvin opened his Japanese restaurant, Sumosam, at the Shangri-La Mall Plaza in Mandaluyong. The actor also owns a branch of Oyster Boy restaurant at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City, and maintains six food kiosks around Metro Manila that go by the name Ricecapades.
Also in December, Marvin was proclaimed Best Actor in the 2005 Metro Manila Film Festival–Philippines, for his role as a psychopath in Canary Films’ Kutob.
The young father may still be unwed to his sons’ mother, pre-school owner Tetet Dy, but that does not stop him from being a good father and provider. He claims that both of the twins take after him, especially “sa kilay at sa laki ng butas ng ilong.” He also says that Santiago and Sebastian have given his life a much clearer direction.
To date, Marvin Agustin is one of the most visible faces on the boob tube, particularly GMA-7. After playing the role of Albert Sandoval opposite Polly Balumbalunan (played by Jolina Magdangal) in I Luv NY (May 15-Septmber 8, 2006), he also starred in Fantastikids and Hoooo U. Recently, he is part of the cast of Asian Treasures, GMA-7's latest primetime offering.
