Mark remarries Melissa in garden wedding

Mark Anthony Fernandez and Melissa Garcia seal their marriage in church ceremonies three years after their union through civil rites in Las Piñas City.

Their love story began in 1999 when they became neighbors in their subdivision. Since then, Mark Anthony Fernandez and Melissa Garcia have been inseparable, leading them to exchange marital vows in civil rites in Las Piñas City three years ago.

Their love story took a more romantic turn last September 24, when Mark Anthony remarried his legal wife Melissa in a garden wedding ceremony held at Puerto de Isabel II in Intramuros, Manila. "This is just to formalize [our union]. Actually, this is nothing really new to her [Melissa] but still she is overjoyed," the groom excitedly shares in a live interview with ABS-CBN's The Buzz just before he walked his wife down the aisle.

The couple wanted a minimalist approach for their wedding. Four months of preparation resulted in a simple and solemn ceremony with modern Filipino touches as motif. "Gusto ko traditional lang," says Mark Anthony. "Gusto ko lahat nandiyan [family and friends]," adds Melissa. The newlyweds are happy and grateful to surpass the trials they had encountered in the past.

A total of 28 principal sponsors served as witnesses during the ceremony, most of them composed of showbiz personalities such as Senators Lito Lapid, Jinggoy Estrada, and Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., Mother Lily Monteverde, Cory Vidanes, Vilma Santos, Gina de Venecia, Wilma Galvante, Annabelle Rama and Boy Abunda, to name a few.

Mark Anthony's parents—Rudy Fernandez and Alma Moreno—shared in the happiness of their son and new daughter-in-law. They beamed with pride as they witnessed their unico hijo take on a much bigger responsibility—that of becoming a padre de familia.
