For two years now, sexy comedienne Ethel Booba has been celebrating her birthday with cancer patients from the Quezon Institute located on E. Rodriguez Street, Quezon City.
Ethel told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) about her annual outreach program during Regal Entertainment's press con held last night (December 18) at Imperial Palace Suites in Quezon City.
"Kapag Christmas, pinagsasabay ko 'yung Christmas tsaka birthday ko tapos nagse-celebrate ako...may gift-giving ang lagi kong ginagawa...[on December] 19...sa QI [Quezon Institute]."
Ethel's red-letter day is actually December 17.
The former host of the defunct GMA-7 reality game show Extra Challenge revealed that some people close to her have been afflicted by the dreaded disease. In fact, her grandmother died of ovarian cancer.
Ethel recalled that she became involved in this advocacy after she shot a segment at the Quezon Institute. Since then, she has set aside one day during Christmastime to spend with cancer patients.
Ethel has been organizing this yearly event with the help of her friends and her boyfriend, Alex Crisano. "Pero hindi ako [nagpapapunta] ng media kasi ‘yung iba kasi nami-misinterpret, 'di ba? Minsan naaano nila na parang ginagawang gimik [ang pagtulong ko]," she pointed out.Ethel plays the role of Angel Locsin's yaya in the Metro Manila Film Fest entry Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di.
