"You can ask Nancy that. Like I said, I don't feel the need to share my personal information," said Brad Turvey when asked about the reason for his breakup with Nancy Castiglione during the "Hi! Bili Ka Na!" Celebrity Challenge at the Plaza Miranda, Quiapo, Manila last Friday, June 15.
"If she feels the need to [share the real reasons], by all means. But for me, I'd like to keep whatever reasons private," Brad added.
Flashback: Nancy told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in a recent interview that she initiated their break-up. She explained that Brad, who was her friend for five years, changed when they started the relationship.
Nancy said, "Kung ano 'yong pinaparamdam niya sa akin noong magkaibigan pa lang kami, hindi ko ‘yon naramdaman noong naging kami. Kaya up to now, I don't know what's inside his head and what he really felt for me during our relationship."
She even said in the same article that there was one instance when she got too worried because Brad texted her only once during her month-long vacation in Canada.
"Noong umalis nga ako for a month to visit my family in Canada, I was so worried all the time because the whole time that I was in Canada, he only texted me once. And that was it. I tried to contact him but he didn't answer me.
"Kaya napapraning ako," she continued. "I'm scared na kapag umuwi ako, baka wala na akong boyfriend. Naguguluhan ako talaga sa kanya. And when I got home, I tried talking to him but eventually, I gave up. Babae lang ako and I can only take as much pain."
PEP tried to clarify this with Brad and he denied it. He said, "No naman. Every day. Every day we were texting. Maybe she was saying once a day. Pero once lang? No naman. Every day nagte-text kami."
After their break-up, Brad said that he didn't feel any regrets. "No [regrets], I think we're both mature and it was a decision that we thought about. It wasn't a rush thing. And like I said, we're okay naman."
Brad added that despite the break-up, he still has open communication with Nancy.
Meanwhile, Brad also admitted that he hears rumors about Gutsy Tuason, an award-winning underwater photographer who was spotted with Nancy in some casual and work-related engagements.
"Well, my friends tell me things and whatever. Kung totoo, okay lang. I mean, sige that's her choice. If she's happy with that, go!" said Brad.
Right now, Brad just wants to Nancy to be happy. His message to his former girlfriend: "Siguro be happy and take care of yourself. And I'm always here for you as your friend."
