Dennis Trillo finally comes clean.
With everyone waiting with bated breath, the matinee idol finally admitted that he is indeed the father of beauty queen Carlene Aguilar's newly born baby boy named Calex Andrea.
In a taped interview with Showbiz Central aired yesterday, September 30, the young actor first explained that all of his previous denials were in compliance with Carlene's wish to be spared from intrigue.
"Nung bago pa umalis [for the U.S.] si Carlene, meron kaming kasunduan. Nag-request siya sa akin na gusto niyang manahimik. As much as possible, ayaw niyang mabanggit 'yong pangalan niya sa kahit anong interviews. Kaya 'yon yung mga ginagawa ko ‘pag in-interview ako bilang respect dahil nagpunta siya ng Amerika para manahimik," explained the Zaido lead star.
Carlene left the country early this year. Her departure took place quietly until GMA-7's entertainment reporter Lhar Santiago accidentally caught sight of Carlene in Los Angeles, California.
Seeing a familiar face is not unusual given the number of Filipinos living around the area. But there's something interesting in Carlene's case as relayed by Lhar at the time: the publicity-shy beauty queen was pregnant.
BABY HO. Although rumors abound that Carlene's pregnancy was courtesy of Dennis, both parties mutually denied the allegations and even gave the impression that they're no longer an item.
The baby's discovered surname would eventually contradict all these claims. Carlene gave birth last September 22 to a healthy baby boy, with the infant bearing the surname Ho. Dennis real name is Abelardo Dennis Florencio Ho.
"Tingin ko nararapat lang din na gamitin 'yong apelyido ko dahil baby ko naman 'yon," Dennis asserted.
As far as fulfilling his fatherly duties, the young actor said: "Wala namang problema 'yon, e. Kasi tatanggapin ko naman 'yon nang buong-buo and responsibility ko 'yon bilang ama.
"Kung ano man 'yong suporta na kailangan niya, wala namang problema sa akin dahil binata naman ako, nasa tamang edad. And kung ano mang responsibilidad na nandiyan, wala akong balak talikuran 'yan. Siyempre, haharapin ko lahat ‘yan."
ON THE ROCKS. Making the most of a rare occasion, Dennis also spoke briefly about his relationship with Carlene.
"Kami kasi ni Carlene matagal 'yong pinagsamahan namin," he revealed tersely. "Matagal ko siyang naging girlfriend. Siguro mga four or five [years]. Kasi bago pa ako pumasok sa GMA, girlfriend ko na siya."
But despite years of togetherness and now having a baby of their own, the relationship between the two doesn't look so bright.
Groping for the right words, Dennis said, "Sa ngayon, medyo malabo 'yong sitwasyon namin dahil nga naging kumplikado na 'yong mga bagay-bagay kaya medyo, wala, malabo."
Again, Dennis reiterated that not having a romantic relationship anymore with the mother of his son would not hinder him from being a good father and provider.
"Pero bilang magulang, siyempre nandiyan ako para suportahan lahat ng pangangailangan. And willing naman akong makipag-ayos sa kanila or sa parents niya para maayos kung ano man ang dapat ayusin para siyempre dun sa bata. Siyempre, di ko 'yon pababayaan, anak ko 'yon, e," said Dennis.
