A staple in Ash Ortega's busy life is exercise.
At the event of GNC, she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "Everyday, I wake up early, and jog in U.P. oval around 6 a.m. Basta before 8 a.m., yung medo mainit na, tapos na ako. I do four rounds.
"And hindi talaga kumpleto ang heart ko without it."
On top of her regular runs, she does other forms of exercises.
"I do Muay Thai for one to two hours. I do Balintawak training, where we use a stick. And I also do aerial hoop and pole dancing for flexibility naman.
"Sometimes pag kaya ko, parkour," which is inspired by military obstacle course training.
But staying slim is not the only reason she's "super active" in sports.
The Kapuso star also gets bored easily so she does not work out with any gym equipment.
"Pag hindi talaga ako nag-workout, I feel like na hindi ako productive, so hinahap-hanap ko siya.
"Actually nga, more on ano rin, e, fun and activity. I do it with friends.
"But sometimes, I do it alone also."
BACK WHEN SHE WAS ACTIVE IN SKATING
But the sport that she became known for is skating.
In May 2018, she won three medals in a skating competition.
Ashley used to be part of the national team, too, and she is friends with Michael Martinez, who became a champion at Asian Figure Skating.
"I was more competitive before when I was super active in skating. I started skating kasi at the age of 4, and then I stopped when I was 12, before I entered showbiz.
"When I was active, yun yung talagang nagko-compete ako abroad, and I was representing the country. I won gold in Malaysia. I brought home eight gold medals and three bronze medals. I was 10 or 11 then.
"In Asia, the first country I competed was in Bangkok, Thailand. I was 7. When we went to China, I was 8. 'Tapos Malaysia, and then nag-Japan kami. I was 11 na at that time.
"I wasn't in showbiz pa, so after school, I go straight to training every day.
"Si Michael, he's actually a close friend of mine. Ever since we're young pa, we we're friends na."
BEAUTY PAGEANT
Standing at 5 feet and six inches, does being a beauty queen crossed her mind?
"A lot of people told me nga to join. But right now, I’m 20 pa lang so I don’t know, maybe in the future. Gusto ko muna kasing mag-graduate sa college, sa SoFA [School of Fashion and the Arts] if ever I join a pageant."
Aside from sports, how does she maintain her weight?
"I am not exactly health-conscious, but I know my limitation. I eat whatever I want, pero alam ko hanggang saan mag-stop.
"If I feel like I gained weight, magsi-seryoso ako, babawasan ko ang rice and carbs."
