Elisse Joson believes confidence is the key to being beautiful, no matter what your skin color may be.
While the desire to have whiter skin varies from person to person, she thinks this should not be used as a beauty standard.
She elaborates, "I think it’s personal preference, kanya-kanya namang gusto iyan, e, kung saan na-fi-feel ng tao na mas confident siya, mas maganda siya.
"Kasi for me, the color of the skin shouldn’t define if you’re beautiful or not.
"It’s also how you carry yourself.
"Sa akin, people should stop making a big thing out of the color of one’s skin because we’re all different."
Elisse was launched as the newest face of Cathy Doll Ready 2 White Series on September 25, 2019, in Ayala Malls Cloverleaf, Quezon City.
Although the skin-care line promises to lighten the skin of its users, the ABS-CBN star says what it truly aims to improve is your self-esteem.
The same goes for any whitening product or brand in the market.
"Siyempre the skin-care series, it doesn't tell you to get whiter skin—it only gives you that lighter and brighter complexion, but, of course, keeping your natural tone," she tells members of the press present at the event.
"Hindi naman kailangan na maputi.
"It just gives you that confidence. It gives you that lightening and glowing, radiant skin."
ELISSE JOSON BEAUTY ROUTINE
Pagpapaganda, according to Elisse, is a manifestation of self-love.
"Gift ko na iyon sa sarili ko," she says.
But it should not be too time-consuming, so it is important to find the right products for your skin.
Elisse continues, "Actually iyong pagpapaganda, dapat effortless, di ba, pero may mga products nga tayo na puwedeng makatulong sa atin."
The 23-year-old actress reveals her fuss-free beauty routine using just three products: cleanser, cheek tint, and boosting cream.
"For me, very little goes a long way.
"Iyong lightening cleanser, I think it's important kasi that cleans your face.
"'Tapos I only use, siyempre, cheek tint every day, and then last iyong boosting cream.
"I noticed actually, iyong boosting cream parang iyon ang cherry on top for the day.
"Walang oiliness sa face mo, which is very important in our weather, very humid, very mainit. So magko-close iyong pores mo, and it gives you that instant brightening effect."
Besides keeping a simple make-up routine, Elisse also works out religiously.
The actress considers doing both as her reward for working hard.
She expounds, "Iyong mga ganoon kasi gift ko na rin sa sarili ko...
"Ang dami na kasi ngayon na uso na pampatulong sa skin mo, make-up, pampaganda ng buhok, so there's so much out there that gives us more confidence...
"Iyong pagwo-workout, ang benefit niya is healthwise.
"Kasi sa trabaho namin, lagi kaming puyat, kailangan laging active kami, so napansin ko, kailangan rin iyon i-keep up with my work."
