Carlo Gonzales can't wait to welcome his baby boy with wife Luane Dy.

“Excited, more than anything, sobrang excited,” Carlo tells (Philippine Entertainment Portal) via Facebook Messenger.

He and Luane tied the knot in a civil ceremony in November 2019. But even before her pregnancy, Carlo had already proposed, and their church wedding was set for December 2020.

“Doon na rin naman papunta iyon. I proposed to her, April last year. We agreed to have a baby na rin. Kasi, ten years na rin naman kami together.

“Kumbaga, parang naka-travel na kami together. Parang we were able to do what newlyweds have done.”

The Unang Hirit co-host is expected to give birth on May 1.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Carlo admits to feeling nervous for his wife and baby.

“That’s one of our worries. We have options naman, pero siyempre, we cannot be complacent when that time comes.

“Lahat ng precautionary measures, I am taking into consideration,” he says.

Now that Luane is entering the final stretch of her pregnancy, she is supposed to be having frequent check-ups with her OB-GYN, but because of the COVID-19 scare, the monitoring of her pregnancy is being done via telephone.

Carlo explains, “Sa check-up naman, very flexible iyong doctor namin. Tawagan na lang muna and pinapakuha na lang kung may kailangan.

“It also helps that my sister is a doctor, so I can always go next door when we need to.”

Because the Kapuso actor is a chef, he is in charge of cooking their meals at home.

“We’re just staying at home, spending time together. Food trip, konting exercise, and Netflix. Ito rin iyong perfect time na napa-practice ko ang cooking ko.”

Luane's pregnancy is not considered delicate, but she has taken time off from hosting Eat Bulaga and Unang Hirit.

How does Carlo see himself as a father?

“I would like to say na mahilig ako sa bata, 'tapos siya, mahilig din siya sa bata. I think, we will be good parents, hopefully. And iyon din ang priorities namin."

Do they have a name in mind for their baby boy?

“Iniisip pa namin, kasi, first baby, at saka, lalaki pa. Kasi, may mga nauna na sa akin, nakuha na iyong III, but definitely may Jose.

“Lahat ng lalaki sa amin, may Jose. Basta Gonzalez, lahat ng lalaki, may Jose at lahat ng babae, may Maria.”

Carlo is part of the cast of GMA-7's Philippine adaptation of Descendants of the Sun, which has been suspended temporarily during the quarantine.

Despite the temporary respite, Carlo is more inspired to work since he has a baby boy coming.

“Mas inspired to work, mas inspired to get up in the morning,” he says with a smile.

His cousin Dingdong Dantes supports this new chapter in his life, and has a lot of fatherhood advice to share.

“And when we [get] together, we talk about stuff like that. What I should expect habang nagbubuntis, paglabas ng baby kung ano puyat.”
