NEW YORK Kitchie visited the area near Ground Zero, where the 9/11 tragedy took place. She says she expected “a bit of discrimination,” but she found “everybody very warm.” (YES! May 2007 issue)

“Kapalaran (Makulay na Buhay),” a song that Kitchie Nadal wrote for GMA-7’s teen soap I Love New York, speaks of traveling to the west: “Sa aking paglalakbay / Mula hilaga, timog, silangan, / Di mapipigil marating lang ang kanluran.”

Kitchie remembered the lyrics when she visited New York, Baltimore, and Utah for the first time during her Same Ground U.S. concert tour from October 20 to November 4 last year. She went sightseeing nearly 12 hours each day in these cities.

“I wrote ‘Kapalaran’ thinking about the New York we see on TV,” says the 2005 Awit Awards’ Female Artist of the Year. New York turned out to be exactly as she had imagined it would be.
