Beleaguered young actress Jennylyn Mercado was rushed to the hospital earlier today, April 21, due to abdominal cramps.
Jennylyn, who is currently pregnant courtesy of ex-boyfriend Patrick Garcia, was said to be under a lot of stress lately due to the negative write-ups that were allegedly coming out against her.
Talking to GMA News, Jennylyn said about her condition, "Okay naman ‘yong baby wala namang problema but ‘yon nga ‘yong nararamdaman ko, ‘yong sobrang stressed ako."
Emerging as the top winner of GMA-7's reality-based talent search show StarStruck in its first season in 2003, Jennylyn instantly became one of the network's most promising young talents. Jennylyn went on to star in telenovelas, films, and even plunged into recording.
But Jennylyn's rosy career took a slight downturn when her manager, Becky Aguila, had a fallout with GMA-7. This was caused by the transfer of Angel Locsin, another ward of Becky, to rival station ABS-CBN last year. Caught in the crossfire and worsening tension, Jennylyn admitted going through deep depression despite her home network's assurance that projects would continue to go her way.
But just when Jennylyn's career was starting to recover, she surprised everyone with an announcement last January 3 this year that she was two months pregnant. Patrick and Jennylyn initially put up a brave front and pledged that they'd be together throughout the pregnancy.
On February 21, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) confirmed that Jennylyn and Patrick headed toward splitsville.
"Magbuhat ng mabuntis ako, wala naman siyang ginagawang effort para sa akin at sa magiging anak niya," lamented Jen to PEP at the time.
