With many big projects to her name, Iza Calzado is clearly a star on the rise. What sets Iza apart from the other young actresses in her league?
Batanes director Adolf Alix Jr. says, “I think her willingness to experiment and take unconventional roles make her stand out.”
Indeed, Iza’s repertoire boasts of an award-winning performance as a ghost in the 2004 thriller Sigaw –which has been turned into the Hollywood film The Echo where Iza reprises her role— fantaserye roles in GMA-7’s primetime soaps Encantadia and Atlantika, and leading-lady roles in GMA-7’s Impostora and Joaquin Bordado, where she plays wife to lead star Robin Padilla.
“Iza sinks her teeth into characters that excite her,” Adolf observes, “She can play a socialite or a girl living in the slums with ease, and you’ll see how effortlessly she gets away with it.”
This talent has earned Iza a spot in YES! 100 Most Beautiful Stars’ category “The Gifted,” which recognizes stars who have raised the bar talent-wise.
