Miss Grand Philippines 2022 Roberta Tamondong is determined to finish college soon.

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Roberta makes it clear that her her education is now her main priority.

She shares, "Definitely, I’m gonna go back to school, because the last time when I joined Binibini, I filed an LOA [leave of absence].

"Like long story short, I’m going back to school to finish my studies. I’m taking AB English, and I wanna be a journalist in the future."

PEP.ph caught up with Roberta at the launch of Avignon Clinic's Exo-50 treatment last February 13, 2023, at Manila House in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Before focusing solely on Binibining Pilipinas and Miss Grand International, Roberta would get sick while actively competing, as she tried to balance academics and training for the contests at the same time.

"Juggling school works and pageantry has been quite challenging," she says.

"Because for me to experience that at an early age, it builds up a woman in me that I could not have imagined, a woman that is hands-on and really dedicated in her work.

"And I’m really grateful to experience [the] best of both worlds."

DREAM JOB

As to what she plans on pursuing after getting a degree in journalism, Roberta states, "I love to be a news anchor. Definitely love it, and I love to be a host.

"I love everything that includes public speaking. Because I have this voice that’s super deep, but then super friendly at the same time. I can modulate my voice.

"And like different from any other environment—like in hosting, my voice is gonna be deeper and more exaggerated, and then when I’m in my speaking voice, I’m usually calm.

"So I like my advantages when it comes to my voice. So, why not? Host, news anchor, but journalism talaga I really love."

INSPIRATION

Roberta reveals that her dream to become a journalist started when she was a kid, as she watched a Kapuso reporter on TV.

She shyly confesses that she has forgotten the name of the reporter.

She then became a member of the school paper, and her flair for creating stories only made the beauty queen love journalism even more: "It's basically my everyday life."

Thanks to the support of her peers and teachers in class, who always assigned her to be a reporter in school plays, Roberta became sure about her dream career.

She is now determined to pursue it with renewed passion and determination.
