It was a touching, tear-jerking sight when Singing Bee host Cesar Montano wrapped his arms around his son Diego who closed his eyes intently during their three-minute hug.
Diego is Cesar Montano's fourteen-year-old son with former actress Teresa Loyzaga, who is now a Qantas Air flight attendant and lives in Sydney, Australia, with their son.
Diego came to watch his father's concert at the Rosehill
Garden Racecourse in Sydney together with comedian Pooh, singer Richard Poon, ASAP regular Nikki
Gil, and yours truly. (For more pictures and stories of Sydney , please go to
my PEP blog, GSPOT .)
In my PEP blog, GSPOT, I wrote, "I could feel
the longing of Diego for a father and and I could also empathize on how Cesar
missed his own flesh and blood. Aside from feeling happy, their striking
resemblance amused me since I could see Cesar's face when he was starting in
his career in Diego's appearance. Para silang magkabiyak na puw*t, yung isa nga
lang, mas fresh na puw*t, hehehe."
Teresa Loyzaga was not able to attend the said concert—organized by Philippine-Australian Sports and Culture Fiesta Kultura, together with TFC and Globe—since her father, Philippine basketball legend Carlos "Caloy" Loyzaga was ailing in the hospital.
In a phone call of the writer to Teresa, she said that she and her son are on good terms with Buboy, who has now reconciled with his wife Sunshine Cruz. Teresa added that if her father were not in a serious condition, she would have been there with Diego and the 30,000 Filipinos who watched the concert.
Asked how serious her father's conditon was, "Let's just say Bing Loyzaga and all of my brothers and sisters flew from Manila to be with my dad. Please pray for him."
