Master Rapper Francis Magalona seemed to have beaten cancer as he walked into the Broadway Complex, home of Eat Bulaga, with renewed strength.
It's been two months since Francis was diagnosed with leukemia, but what's important now is that he's well on his way to recovery. He proved this by appearing on Eat Bulaga last Wednesday, October 22, to jam his "Dabarkads."
Yesterday, October 25, Francis guested live on Startalk to talk about his improving condition and his excitement to once again pump some adrenaline entertainment for his supporters.
So how does Francis feel now that he's back in action?
"So far, my blood parameters are very good, so, I know na okey lang na makihalubilo ako and I know my capacities," Francis said, explaining that his condition has improved, though he still has to be careful.
"Ang feeling ko, last time I stepped there was August 4. It has been a long journey—sometimes sad, sometimes painful, sometimes happy and hopeful. And now to step actually in the studio, grab the microphone, perform and see all the people...I'm glad to be home!"
Is it necessary to sanitize Francis's surroundings?
"Well, during my certain moments like after chemo treatment, definitely bumababa ang immunity, pero siyempre this is all part of a maintenance program," explained Francis. "Of course, I still have to watch my environment at siguro huwag lang talaga yung solid na maraming-maraming tao talaga. Pero okey naman, so far."
Is he truly ready to work again?
Francis laughed, "Sabi ko nga, limang hatsing lang nandito na ako, so, pagbalik ko sa Broadway, e, isang hatsing at isang kandirit na lang, e, magho-host na ako sa Bulaga!"
During his absence from the entertainment scene, Francis did some thinking about his condition. Although medicine helps in improving one's condition, he said, it also helps to pray and be positive always.
"Stepping on stage, being home and performing with friends, this is all part of a healing process. Lalo akong lumakas," Francis added. "This is a victory for sick people all over. You can stand up against this illness and be normal at least one day at the time."
What keeps Francis alive and kicking?
"The Lord," Francis said. "I always pray to Him. My children... my family and all the people who have been praying for me, friends and supporters. "
