After a long break from showbiz, Patrick Garcia returned to face the spotlight. He told Startalk, though, that he is laying low for now.
“It’s too messy and complicated at the moment,” Patrick explained. “Well, intrigues and people talking about other people. Gusto ko muna maayos ang personal na buhay ko.”
Patrick is busy preparing himself to handle the family business.
“I'm trying to learn about the company and how to work and run it,” said Patrick. “My dad plans to retire soon so he wants my brother and I to handle it.”
When asked about his feelings for ex-girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado their and son Alex Jazz, Patrick replied that he is making the effort to keep communicating with her. The actor also expressed his wish to see his son, but with Jennylyn’s blessings.
“She should understand that it’s not about me and her anymore. It’s about the baby,” Patrick said.
JENNYLYN MERCADO’S SAY. Startalk was able to contact Jennylyn—who is in San Diego, California for a show and vacation—to get her say on Patrick’s wish on seeing their baby son. Also, this was the time to get Jennylyn’s reaction to news that Patrick is going out with fellow GMA-7 actress Glaiza de Castro.
To start off, what was Jennylyn doing in the U.S.?
“Vacation lang and show,” Jen reported. “Ako lang mag-isa.”
Is her son with her now?
“No, malungkot nga ako,” Jen said. “Si Mama [Mrs. Lydia Mercado] po muna ngayon ang nag-aalaga.”
People say that this is the best time for Patrick to visit his son since Jennylyn is away. But Patrick said that he has to have Jen’s blessing first. What is Jen’s reaction to this?
“Dapat naman talaga may blessing ko,” Jen said. “Kung hindi, hindi niya talaga makikita. Ngayon kasi, it’s a private matter. Lagi ko kasing sinasabi sa lahat ng interviews ko na out na si Patrick sa picture. So, ibig sabihin nun, alam na nila ibig sabihin nun!”
Startalk host Joey de Leon told Jennylyn about news that Patrick’s camp may resort to the legal process in acquiring rights to visit the child.
“A, o sige, go!” reacted Jen. “Handa rin kami sa ganyang bagay. Lagi kaming game and ready [sa ganyang bagay].”
Patrick said that he really loves Alex Jazz and he was always here for his son. When asked what he thinks of Jen’s reaction, he simply remarked, “Wala.”
GLAIZA DE CASTRO CONNECTION. News came out that Patrick was going out with Glaiza de Castro. It's fresh news for Jen and she reacted positively.
“That’s okay, kasi pareho naman kaming single ni Pat, and I think single din si Glaiza,” Jen said. “Wala naman masama na mag-date sila. Why not, di ba? Gusto mo tulungan ko pa siya at ihatid ko siya sa bahay ni Glaiza? Mabait si Glaiza and hindi naman ako against sa kanya. She’s a very nice girl and suwerte si Patrick sa kanya.”
How about Jen? Is she going out again?
“Ako, wala akong oras sa ganoon,” she said. “Ang oras ko ngayon para sa pamilya ko, sa trabaho [para] sa baby ko especially.”
Her message to Patrick?
“Grow up and good luck!”
