Lago Del Rey hosts Aqua Fest Celebrity Challenge

Mar 3, 2009
Celebrities endured the early summer heat to participate in the Aqua Fest Celebrity Challenge held at Lago Del Rey in Camarines Sur. The three-day event was made possible through the efforts of CamSur Governor LRay Villafuerte.

Celebrities headed to Lago del Rey, Camarines Sur's latest pride, and stayed there for three days (February 26 to 28) of water sports fun and drink-till-you-drop night parties courtesy of Governor LRay Villafuerte and his group.

The venue was created to complement the world famous man-made wakeboard cable lake, CamSur Watersports Complex or CWC. According to Gov. Villafuerte, Lago Del Rey would target families and individuals who go for wholesome water sports like water volleyball, kayaking, giant water slides, water polo, aqua obstacle course, boat-towed wakeboarding, skiing, aqua wall climbing, and dragon boating, among others.

EARLY SUMMER TREAT. The Aqua Fest Celebrity Challenge was preceded by a welcome cocktail-cum-dinner where stars, requested to show up in all-white getup, converged by the lake to party. Sinosikat, flag bearer of the so-called Pinoy soul music, provided entertainment.

February 27 marked the official day of the event. Immediately after lunch, the celebrities were given their respective team assignments. Serving as team captains were John Estrada (Red Team), Reema Chanco (Maroon Team), Gary Estrada (Sky Blue Team), Bobby Yan (Navy Blue Team), and Mark Nelson (White Team).

The stars were given first-hand opportunity to enjoy Lago Del Rey's facilities. After the intense competition, the Sky Blue Team emerged as the overall winner, accumulating a total score of 150. The equally competitive Red Team landed the second spot. Placing third was the White Team, followed by Maroon and Navy Blue.

The awarding ceremony hosted by Raymond Gutierrez and Tim Yap was staged at the Villas Poolside. Medwin Marfil and the rest of True Faith serenaded all the guests on their final evening at CamSur.

SIDE NOTES. A showbiz event would not be complete without the intrigues, of course.

A few interesting side notes come night time caught the attention of the media and press people, including the onlookers.

What happens when there's free flowing liquor at the bar's disposal? Literally, a wet party! In the spirit of fun, some celebrity guests got soaked when they were intentionally thrown into the water.

A mild altercation also reportedly ensued between JM Rodriguez and the members of Sinosikat. But the next day during breakfast, the people concerned displayed no signs of a rift.

On day three, a pool party once again happened after the awarding ceremony. Most of the guests got inebriated, including Raymond, who was reportedly injured while in the middle of the revelry.

But overall, the CamSur getaway turned out to be a success and a fun-filled experience for the stars. In fact, Gov. Villafuerte expressed his plan to conduct the Aqua Fest Celebrity Challenge annually.

Celebrities who were also spotted: Joey Marquez (who brought a non-showbiz date), Drew Arellano, Jeremy Marquez, Priscilla Meirelles, Denise Laurel, LJ Moreno, Jordan Herrera, Cheska Litton, Ketchup Eusebio, Jowee Ann Marquez, Marco Alcaraz, Claudine Trillo, and Nadia Montenegro, to name a few.
