Manny Pacquiao is not just a world-class boxer and congressman, he's also a technophile.
That's what the People's Champ impressed on PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters last Wednesday, August 11, during the press conference for Sony at the New World Hotel in Makati City. Pacquiao is the new brand ambassador for the 3-D campaign of the global technology company.
Being the endorser for Sony 3-D World definitely has its advantages. The Champ is now the proud owner of the first 3-D television and DVD player in the country.
"Proud ako at napakalaki ang karangalan ko na ako ang unang-una na magkakaroon ng 3-D dito sa atin at maraming salamat sa Sony," Pacquiao told the press on receiving his new technology.
He described the 3-D experience as "parang lumalabas sa TV." "Parang nanonood ng live... Parang nandun kami sa Amerika, nanood kami ng ganyan, ng 3-D," he said.
But no sweat. For the multi-millionaire, these are just gadgets. He recalled the treasures he had as a kid.
"Uso cassette noon. Meron akong Walkman. Mahilig ako sa music. Di ba kumakanta ako? Kaya lagi kong dala yung Walkman," he reminisced.
He also joked, "Meron din akong Betamax. Yung sinasaksakan ng VHS?"
The press conference was cut short early because the Sarangani representative had to rush to the Batasan.
