Mrs. Carol Santos said she didn't know a showbiz couple could have a solemn wedding if they wanted to.
She was talking about her daughter Judy Ann Santos and now son-in-law Ryan Agoncillo's wedding last April 28. She was one of the few people who hid the details of the wedding from the public.
"Three weeks nalaman ko na pupuntahan ako," she said in a taped interview with Startalk. "So, wala pa, e, everybody was happy and we cooked for Ryan.
After hearing these words, Ryan joked that once he had Juday, she was already his. "It was just a kind of joke, pero serious ako," Mommy Carol said.
Mommy Carol herself got a surprise when she learned about the wedding details. "May mga write-ups na ihahatid siya [Judy Ann] ng daddy niya, which is also fine with me.
The arrival of Manny Boy Santos, Juday's estranged father, gave her the opportunity for a complete family picture at her wedding. According to Mommy Carol, this was the first time the whole family got together since her husband left. "Finally, finally," Mommy Carol said. "Hindi ko kasi gawa kasing patirin, e!"
Did she and her husband talk?
"Ah, hindi," Mommy Carol replied. "In fairness, hindi. Dedma talaga."
Beth Tamayo, who is Juday's best friend, was not present during the wedding due to obligations she had to attend to, was called up by Juday in the early hours before the wedding. "Nagme-makeup si Juday at tinawagan niya si Beth and she was crying," Mommy Carol said. "They were both crying kasi talaga naman na best friend ang dalawa, e."
REACTION TO TV HOST'S CRITICISM. Now, Mommy Carol reacts, for the first time, to a TV host who openly criticized her daughter's wedding.
Tumigil ka, at ihinto mo bibig mo kasi you're not involved naman with the wedding. In the first place, hindi ito isinikreto para itago forever.
REALITY BITES. Mommy Carol revealed that it was only this time that she had fully realized her daughter was already married. It also seems like she was still having trouble adjusting to Ryan's calling her "Mommy" instead of "Tita."
A laughing Mommy Carol also shared how she kidded Ryan about having kids immediately.
Mommy Carol also related that the honeymoon was supposed to be in Mexico, but it was the time before the Swine Flu epidemic. "They had to think over it three times over," added Mommy Carol. "Also, si Juday has to finish her project with Ogie [Alcasid]."
Is it true that Mommy Carol is leaving for Canada soon?
"Siguro I'll stay there for three months or four months," revealed Mommy Carol. You eventually live alone. I don't care much para sa akin. Patapos na life ko, but sila, they are just starting."
