"He's a very fair person. I think he is one the most objective people I've met in the industry. Even sa malapit sa puso niya, he can detach himself and just see whatever situation na nasasangkot siya. I think that's why he's such a mediator to everybody. Kasi wala talaga siyang kinikilingan, e. Dun lang siya talaga sa tama. I think that's how he really is, and that's how he has been with us. Wala siyang kaaway," says Gelli de Belen about her manager, Douglas Qu

ALLAN QUIJANO & NADIA MONTENEGRO.

Kris: Ano po si Tito Douglas as a child?

Kris: A leader talaga, a born leader.

Allan: Asikaso niya po kami. Inaawat-awat niya kami pag may pagkasalbahehan. Medyo nagagalit siya, siyempre.

Kris: Nung nandito na siya sa Manila, nung lumalaki na ang pangalan niya, was he very generous sa kanyang mga kapatid?

Allan: Opo.

But apart from that, meron pa ba siyang ibang health conditions?

Allan: Hindi ko po alam. Pero ine-expect na namin kasi sa type of work niya 'yan, e.

Kris: Nads, ikaw, ano ang first reaction mo when you found out about it? Who called you?

Nadia: Wendell (Ramos). For Wendell to call me 10, 10:15 in the morning, I knew there was something wrong na. And then when he told me nga na, 'Nads, narinig mo na ba yung kay Tito Dougs?' I kinda knew what it was. So, wala na, nag-freak out na ako. Then I called up Marilen [Nuñez], Apet, they couldn't talk anymore kasi they were crying na. And then I just decided to go to Marilen's place and that's where we all met, kaming magkakapatid doon. And then, yun, until we waited for the body of Tito Dougs sa Heritage that night.

Kasi parang when he found out about my mom's illness, parati niyang sinasabi sa akin na, 'Pag dumaan ako sa mga mongha, I'm gonna ask them to pray for her.' And I was told na last Friday, he was able to visit.

Mesa.

Kris: I went to that house.

Kris: Nadia, yung talent-management relationship, parang marami kang maririnig na nag-away because of pera, or because of hindi pagkakaintindihan. Parang with Tito Dougs, wala kang maririnig na ganun. What was he like as a person?

Nadia: He was more of a father. Kasi in all my life decisions that I have to do, siya lahat din, e. Especially when I was 16, sabi niya, 'O, in love ka na. Live your life and be happy.' Siya ang nag-decide for me. Pati yung... Lahat-lahat, even yung for my kids. Everything, siya lahat. Kumbaga, when he says yes, I know it's all right.

Allan: Maganda siyang mag-guide, e. Kasi level-headed si Kuya Douglas, e.

Kris: Tama, that level-headed term. One of the most beautiful things he ever shared with me, 'O, basta Kris, tayong dalawa hindi tayo co-terminus.' Talagang I loved him for that. Over and beyond that relationship, he is really a friend.

Nadia: Hindi kailangang maging alaga ka niya for him to love you. Yun ang pinakamasarap sa kanya.

Kris: Nadia, is there anything that you would like to share to the people about Tito Douglas?

Nadia: ...You know, first and foremost siguro, na for Tito Dougs, na he's smiling now. He is happy. We all know he died happy. And I'd like to ask for prayers lang for the family, for the grieving family, and of course lahat ng tinutulungan ni Tito Dougs.

Bale parang saying yun, "Good, better, best. Never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best."

JUNE RUFINO & GELLI DE BELEN.

Kris: Gels, ilang years kang inalagaan ni Tito Dougs?

Gelli: Officially, mga 16 years. But I've known him since I was 10.

Kris: How long has he been your friend, Tita June?

June: Since 1974... 35 years. And on the phone with him almost every day.

Kris: Ilarawan mo siya sa amin?

June: Si Douglas is a very kind person and caring. He has no envious goal in his body. And he is always there to help. He can be very confidential for you. And he has so much compassion for people, grabe. And he remembers everything that you sent him.

Kris: Totoo yun. Ikaw Gelli, ano ang puwede mong mai-share sa amin about Tito Douglas both as a mentor and a second father?

Gelli: He's a very fair person. Wala siyang kaaway.

Kris: Tita June, ano ang biggest contribution ni Tito Douglas sa ating industriya, in your opinion?

June: Si Dougs, there's so much he has contributed, but like giving jobs, giving advice, love, care, and mentorship. Hindi siya selfish in teaching, like he is my mentor as a manager.

Kris: Like si Mr. M [Johnny Manahan] and Tita Mariole [Alberto] will pay tribute to him because of Palibhasa Lalake that gave him the foundation to create Star Magic now. Kasi, di ba, yung talent management, overall, e. You embrace the entire person, and also the family, the work—lahat kasama, e. One thing, the newsman in Tito Dougs, hindi nawala. He really believed that everybody deserve to know. And I think na ang laki-laki talaga ng contribution niya, also because he was an adviser to PEP and YES! magazine, di ba?

June: Yes, pretty much everyone talaga.

As a tribute to him right now, what is the message you want to impart?

June: Douglas also stood as a father to my children. Every problem that I had, he was there.

Kris: This was when your marriage crumbled?

June: Yes, even up to last Friday [June 12] when we were talking, before he died. I just want to thank Douglas for everything that he has done. When I got separated, he asked Mother Lily for a job for me. And that started my life again. So, I just want to thank the Lord for giving me Douglas in my life. He was my angel talaga.

Kris: Nung sinabi mo na naghahanap ka ng trabaho, alam mo yun talaga, I think he was so compassionate na talagang hindi siya selfish. Gusto niya ang lahat magkaroon.

June: I just want to thank the Lord for Douglas and I want to thank Douglas for his love.

Kris: Gelli, may gusto kang sabihin kay Tito Douglas right now?

Gelli: I will miss you. I will miss your kakulitan. Or yung simple na, "Anong balita?" Yung mga ganun lang. Hindi mo naiisip na... You take for granted those moments, but now that he's gone, hindi ko pa rin... surreal pa rin for me.

Kris: The recent call I got from him about my private life and he said, "Tahimik ka na. You found your peace."

Gelli: And he's few with compliments, ha. Kaya talagang damahin mo.

Kris: Sabi ko, salamat, Tito Dougs. For you, I will try to maintain that peace. Thank you very much sa inyo, ha, in showing your love for him. Tita June, thank you. Gelli, thank you. You can invite me to your show [SiS] sa kabila. Puwede tayong mag-cooking.
