With only a few days remaining before wrapping up its impressive primetime run, the local adaptation of the popular Korean series Stairway to Heaven treated its loyal fans and viewers with a grand fans day staged last December 6 at the Sky Dome of SM North in Quezon City.
The celebration was a way for the cast members to say thank you to the fans for all the support they gave the show since its premiere on September 14.
Lead stars Dingdong Dantes and Rhian Ramos led the entire cast in entertaining the show's loyal followers through games and special production numbers. Before proceeding to the venue, the cast members first graced the noontime musical variety program S.O.P Fully Charged for a sendoff celebration, which was broadcast live at the Sky Dome for all the fans to witness.
The venue erupted instantly the minute Dingdong stepped onstage to sing Rico Blanco's current single, "Ayuz." Young actor Jhake Vargas earned the screams of the female audience with his rendition of Jason Mraz's smash hit, "I'm Yours."
Though they are still too young to be treated as a legitimate love team, Joshua Dionisio and Barbie Forteza, reminded everyone how wonderful it is to experience young love through their song number. The two stars of Dear Friend: My Christmas List proved that they are perhaps the screen pair of the future to beat, based on crowd reaction that afternoon.
Also on hand to entertain the crowd were Jean Garcia, Glaiza de Castro and TJ Trinidad.
Despite their effective portrayal of villain roles, there was no love lost between the fans and Jean and Glaiza.
"Mabait naman po ako sa personal," a smiling Glaiza told the adoring crowd, and Jean won the audience through her live song number.
"Maraming salamat po sa walang sawa ninyong suporta sa Stairway. Kami po ay natutuwa na hindi kayo bumitiw mula nung umpisa. Sama-sama po tayo hanggang sa dulo," an emotional Dingdong addressed the fans.
Stairway to Heaven's final episode will be on Friday, December 11.
