Is young actor Carl Guevara threatening to assume third wheel role in the Kris Bernal-Aljur Abrenica love team? This particular scenario was raised following Carl's inclusion in GMA-7's primetime series, The Last Prince.
Some pundits even speculated that Carl is perhaps being positioned by his home network as Kris's next possible leading man after Aljur, a scenario that would definitely earn the ire of loyal Aljur and Kris fans.
Pero kung pagbibigyan ako ng pagkakataon ng network na maka-love team si Kris, siyempre, masaya ako," Carl said to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in a lunch interview last week at Pink Pepper restaurant in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
Carl—who is currently on the cover of Men's Health-Philippines—admitted being groomed by manager Perry Lansigan as leading-man material. That's why he's into various physical activities to tone his body.
The 20-year-old actor is also preparing himself for the much-anticipated Bench fashion show this coming July at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
"Ayoko naman magmukhang bato-bato," he laughed. "Maganda 'yong parang sexy lang, mas magandang tingnan."
Though still months away, Carl feels nervous about the July fashion event, which is well-known for parading celebrities wearing nothing but their underwear. Carl cited Bench veterans Richard Gomez and Jomari Yllana as two of the personalities he would approach to solicit pointers on how to muster enough confidence for such a big show.
NOT LOOKING FOR LOVE. Carl's past relationship with Brazilian model Daiana Menezes was again dug up following the latter's closeness with radio and television personality Sam YG.
Daiana and Carl's romantic relationship lasted for eight months before the couple decided to part ways.
The ex-couple remains in good terms despite the separation.
"Last month lang nagkita kami. Tapos nung first time akong nagkaroon ng show sa GMA-7, 'yong Dear Friend, she congratulated me naman."
He added, "Hindi mahirap pakisamahan si Daiana. Iniintindi niya lahat and talagang understanding...
Carl said he's not looking for a new girlfriend and forcing things just to have one is also not in his nature.
Is he particularly fond of foreigners as potential girlfriends?
"Tumitingin ako sa attitude," Carl said. Kusang dumadating 'yan, e. Mamaya sabihin ko gusto ko talaga Pinay, tapos may ibang dumating."
