Diether Ocampo expressed his full support for girlfriend Rima Ostwani's decision to join show business. She recently joined the talent ward of TV host Boy Abunda in fulfilling her interest to be part of local showbiz.
"Well, I'm very supportive naman sa kung ano ang mga plano niya," said Diether in an interview after he signed a contract with Yahoo! Philippines for making his website one of its content providers.
Diether said he gladly welcomes Rima to the industry, the same way he welcomes other newcomers.
"Kami naman, we're always here to welcome whoever is interested in joining the industry, di ba? Parang the same way kung papaano ako na-welcome, ganun din dapat sa mga tao na gustong sumubok," he said.
Although they're already a couple, Diether said he has yet give Rima advice on showbiz.
"For me, she also has her own goals as an individual," he explained. "We haven't really spoken about it. Kapag ano kasi, medyo may kinalaman sa professional [life] namin, hindi kami [masyadong nag-uusap]. Pero we're very supportive [of each other]."
During the interview, it was very noticeable that Diether was trying to veer away from the questions about his romantic relationship with Rima. The actor said he wants to make it as private as possible.
"Mahirap kasi, sabi nga, you have to have balance of everything—sa dami ng mga commitment ko sa showbiz, my commitment with K.I.D.S. Foundation. I noticed there are a lot of things na dapat kong bigyan ng pansin and priority. It's not that easy but it's very challenging. I would say that I still am able to talk about na parang nangyayari, which is hindi ko kayang dalhin. Definitely, you know, everything's okay. There's really nothing to worry about."
When PEP asked if this decision to keep silent about his romantic relationship was the result of the report that he and Rima had a misunderstanding, Diether just smiled and tried to promote his non-showbiz ventures.
BREAKTIME WITH K.I.D.S. FOUNDATION. Talking about balancing his time with work and personal relationships, Diether still manages to find a schedule for K.I.D.S. Foundation. In fact, tomorrow, April 23, Diether will be treating 150 kids from Payatas on a trip to Ocean Park.
The Kapamilya actor said he will never fail to attend events like this because this is his way of giving back his blessings to less fortunate kids.
"It's very difficult, nagdya-juggle ka and, at the same time, nagba-balance ka," said Diether. "Well, it's also fun to do it. Especially when you know na ang challenges na hinaharap mo ay kayang-kaya mo. I think ganun ang maging attitude ng mga Filipinos. Kung meron namang opportunity, dapat hindi mo na pinapalagpas 'yan, e. Kung kaya mong gawin, may mga taong susuporta naman sa 'yo, kung sino ang maniniwala."
Diether also mentioned that he always stresses this lesson to the beneficiaries of K.I.D.S. Foundation.
"I always tell the kids that we support in K.I.D.S. Foundation, 'You know, kapag naging successful ka, kapag lumaki ka, always remember to share.' Kasi, that's my way of paying it forward. Marami ring mga taong tumulong sa akin. So, in my own little way, I was able set up something like K.I.D.S. Foundation na patuloy na tumutulong sa mga kabataan natin."
Diether also took this opportunity to invite other Pinoys who want to volunteer in charity events.
"We wanted to encourage everybody na mayroong kakayanang tumulong. You know, kahit sa inyong kakaunting kontribusyon—whether it's your time or to volunteer to take care of the kids to that event, or in kind or monetary—kahit na anong suporta, maraming bata ang mabibigyan natin ng inspirasyon. Definitely, marami pa tayong batang matutulungan."
