Tim Yap explained to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) why he is into the business of running clubs. "When I say I'm a party guy and I like clubbing [sic], it's my venue to express myself," he said. "I'm most effective linking to people, and showing them ways to have fun. That's why I'm also enjoying my TV work, which is my way to people. They're my way of communicatiing what I believe in. Clubbing is just one way for me."

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had a chance to chat with TV host and entrepreneur Tim Yap this afternoon, June 16, at the Legarda Elementary School in Sampaloc, Manila. Tim was in the elementary school to donate school supplies worth P100,000 during the commemoration program for National Artist Jose Garcia Villa, which was hosted by Freeway.

Tim explained, "It's hard for me to wake up in the morning about attending an event like this, but I squeeze in time talaga to do these things so I could learn more from other people. Because this is hard to ignore. There's something that feels good inside. You know you are investing in what will outlive you."

Tim explained where he got the school supplies.

"Last year, I did an ambassadorship for Mongol Pencils. In exchange I have in denominations of 100,000 worth of school supplies. I can channel it to a particular advocacy that I believe in," he said.

Tim—who balances three TV shows, an editing job in a broadsheet, and several businesses—hopes the donations will go a long way.

"Every pencil for them will be a way for them to realize what they want in their life. When I see a kid, I always ask them what they want to become. They are all taking baby steps towards that. I feel like the school supplies are tools that can enable the kids to write their dreams down, the things that they want to become," he said.

NEW REPUBLIQ. PEP asked Tim about his new venture in Pasay City, Republiq, another venue for socials that will open tomorrow.

"Dapat June 12, para birth of the Republiq. On June 12, we just opened unofficially, we had a blessing," Tim said.

Tim claimed he was into the club business because he wants "to put the Philippines on the map as a clubbing [sic] destination."

Tim and his business partners currently have two bars: Republiq and Encore at The Fort in Taguig City.

Encore was previously known as Embassy, which made headlines a couple of times because of altercations between celebrities that happened there.

Tim said he hopes Republiq will veer away from Embassy's controversial image.

"I hope that it will not attract controversy. We want as many as much good vibes. But if it does, we have to transform it into something that will be positive," he said.

Security for Republiq, he added, will be as tight as the security for hotels and malls. "Now more than ever I think our group is more mature, so now the Republiq is the more mature version of what we envisioned before."

Lastly, he invited everyone to see what Republiq has to offer. "You have to see it for yourself, to see what new clubbing experience it will bring to Manila. Again, a good venue, a secure venue for good, clean fun. Number two, we promise to bring the best in Philippine talent, and DJs. And again it's a venue, it can be for the performing arts, we can celebrate as many national holidays as much as we can. Isasabay ko siya with a lot of national holidays."
