Last September 2, Iza Calzado hosted the launch of Avon's Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign, which was attended by Breast Cancer survivors, trade partners, and friends from the media.

Iza Calzado is joining the walk and run for cancer prevention in support of Avon's Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) campaign which will be held on October 3 at the SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds.

After losing two important women in her life to the deadly disease, the Kapuso actress became an advocate in 2007 and an ambassador of the brand's campaign in 2008.

In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), she says, "I am a woman. I am very much aware of what cancer can do to moms, daughters, sisters, and friends. Anyone can get cancer. So I am stepping out for cancer prevention. I strongly advise everyone to take care of their bodies, and try to eat healthier foods."

For six years now, the 28-year-old actress has not been eating pork and beef. She stopped eating chicken for five years and has just resumed it in her meals last year. She also cut down on her intake of carbohydrates and has increased her consumption of fruits and vegetables.

Not wanting to sound self-righteous, she clarifies, "Hindi naman ako nagpapanggap na ano... I am not the healthiest person but I choose what I eat. I think I make better choices now."

Aside from watching her diet, Iza has a fitness routine. She runs and goes to gym regularly, and has even tried pole dancing. But her goal is not to become thin, she simply wants to make her body stronger.

She stresses: "I'm really encouraging people to lead a healthy lifestyle not just to look good but to feel good. So walking or running on October 3 is a good start."

She says women can find ways to fight breast cancer. "It's both discipline and desire... If we are aware, we can do something!"

HOW TO STEP OUT. The annual walk will have a provincial roll-out at Avon Cagayan de Oro and SM Lucena on October 10, and SM Baguio on October 17.
