Star Magic calls nasty rumor about Shaina Magdayao and John Lloyd Cruz "a hoax" and the product of "sick minds"

"The reports of a couple 'stuck' together and rushed to a hospital are obviously a hoax and the work of the sick minds... [We] pray for the souls of the perpetrators," ABS-CBN talent arm Star Magic said yesterday, September 14, in denying ugly rumors about its talents Shaina Magdayao and John Lloyd Cruz.

For nearly two weeks now, ugly rumors about celebrity couple Shaina Magdayao, 20, and John Lloyd Cruz, 27, have been making entertainment headlines.

The rumors first appeared as blind items in tabloids and radio shows. Later, the two famous young stars, who are currently sweethearts, were named as the couple involved.

According to unsourced reports, which first circulated in early September, Shaina and John Lloyd were both rushed to a private hospital after suffering from a medical condition called "penis captivus."

The unsourced reports were admittedly confusing. Some said the good-looking couple were brought to the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City. Some said they were at the St. Luke's Medical Center at the Global City, The Fort, Taguig City.

According to, penis captivus refers to a situation where "the muscles in the vagina clamp down on the penis much more firmly than usual, making it impossible for the penis to withdraw from the vagina regardless of erection status."

The online dictionary also said that this condition "is a possible urban legend describing an event that allegedly happens in rare instances during heterosexual intercourse."

On September 9, talk-show host Boy Abunda went on air and called the rumor false and malicious on ABS-CBN's nightly entertainment show SNN.

In his words: "Mga kaibigan, nais lamang po nating itama ang isang maling balita. Kasi po may umiikot na malisyoso at bastos na balita na may kinalaman kina Shaina Magdayao at John Lloyd Cruz. The first time I heard about this tsismis...

"Ang involved na ospital po, mga kaibigan, ay isang ospital sa Quezon City hanggang ito ay nalipat sa isang ospital sa Makati. Ito ay may kinalaman sa diumano'y pagdala kay Shaina Magdayao sa isang ospital.

"Ito po ay walang katotohanan. This is unfair especially to a girl like Shaina. Hindi po ito totoo, 'wag po kayong maniwala."

Abunda also said that the story was impossible because both Kapamilya actors, during the period mentioned, were busy taping for their respective TV projects—John Lloyd for Imortal, Shaina for Precious Heart Romances Presents: Alyna.

He added: "Itong bastos...these nasty talks about Shaina having been brought to the hospital... Inuulit ko po, kasi dumating na ito sa mga blogs, sa Internet, hindi po ito totoo, mga kaibigan. '

"Yon lang, para lang ma-i set natin ang record nang straight."

The TV-show host added: "We have to stop this. It's not fair."

On September 12, Star Magic, the Kapamilya talent arm handling the showbiz careers of Shaina and John Lloyd, made a statement on ABS-CBN's Sunday talk show The Buzz which called the rumor "a big lie."

Just as Boy Abunda did on SNN, Star Magic also pointed out that on the day the incident reportedly happened, Shaina and John Lloyd were busy working on their upcoming TV series.

The Buzz also reported that, based on the statement of a hospital insider, no St. Luke's branch had recorded any incident involving the celebrity couple.

The show also mentioned that the two young actors attended the annual Star Magic Ball in Shangri-la Makati last September 5, and that no trace of worry on Shaina's or John Lloyd's face could be seen during the night.

On September 14, Star Magic sent another press statement to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media outlets to clear Shaina's and John Lloyd's names.

The three-sentence official statement read: "The reports of a couple 'stuck' together and rushed to a hospital are obviously a hoax and the work of the sick minds.

"It is pitiful that some members of the entertainment press and public would want to lend credence to this piece of black propaganda.

"We laugh at this latest attempt to popularize our artists and pray for the souls of the perpetrators."
