While most people were busy preparing for their media noche, Karylle was at the lobby lounge of Shangri-La Makati, opening the hotel's countdown concert with "Queen of the Night," a Whitney Houston hit.
The guests had a grand time dancing with the singer-actress-dancer, who dished out a medley of fast-paced songs by Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Keisha.
To bring out the camaraderie in the air, she included heartwarming pieces like "You've Got A Friend" and "Lean On Me." She also paid tribute to the phenomenal musical series Glee by singing its theme "Don't Stop Believing."
One of the night's biggest surprises was the Kapamilya star's debut as guitar player. In her intro spiel, Karylle said, "When people ask me about my love life, it's kinda hard to explain. So instead, I try reply with this song." She then sang her original song "Found My Smile," which had some of the guests thinking positively about the performer's love life.
WHAT'S UP, 2011? The concert marks the beginning of a busy year for the daughter of Zsa Zsa Padilla.
She is set to make her much-awaited stage comeback in STAGES' production of Light in the Piazza. This will be her third musical after Little Mermaid, where she was introduced as Princess Sapphire, and West Side Story, where she received critical and commercial acclaim by playing the female lead Maria.
She is also set to release her new album, which contains some of her compositions, under PolyEast.
