"The reason why I testified was because there was a conviction in my heart that something has to be said, because nobody believed that he left the country at all," says Gary Valenciano (in photo) about testifying for Hubert Webb at the height of the Vizconde murder case.

(CLICK HERE to read related story.)

THE WITNESS.

"The reason why I testified was because there was a conviction in my heart that something has to be said, because nobody believed that he left the country at all.

"How can I possibly believe that, when I saw him? I was talking to him, we were talking about the NBA. His father [Freddie Webb] is a basketball player and I love basketball.

"And I was talking to him, 'You play basketball also?' And he said 'Yeah, I do!'

"And you know, it was like that, that's it.

"You know, just to give a little information na nakita ko siya, you know, in the States. I said, 'Yeah, but I saw him!'

"The thing is nobody believed that he left. And there was peace in my heart."

"At the same time, I went up to Mr. Vizconde after that. I went up to him and I said, 'Mr. Vizconde, I'm like you, I also want to know exactly what happened here, and I'm praying that someday, you will actually find solid evidence and proof of it all."

MANG LAURO'S MESSAGE TO GARY.

"I have nothing against Gary when he testified," sabi niya.

"It was only four months, when according to him, he met Hubert somewhere in LA in November in that year.

"Even before and after he testified, he somewhat...he wants to ask for an apology.

"I would like to thank him now after reading his message, which I would like also to thank him. And please send my regards to Gary.

"Sabi ko nga, 'Don't you worry, you did not have anything to do with this.

STRENGTH TO CARRY ON.

"Not yet," sagot ni Gary.

"I'm leaving for the States on Sunday [January 9]. When I come back, it would be a great, great thing to see both parties, you know, and to really say, 'Listen, it's not over yet but it's a step closer to where we're supposed to be."

"Sir, my prayers are with you. Sir, that's the best I can give you.

"And I think that's the best thing that sets us free, because knowing the truth is what sets us free.

"God is your God. He's gonna give you the strength to carry on.

"And He's gonna give you the strength to receive the provisions that He still has for you.

"So, God bless you, Sir."
