Thousands of fans trooped to the Araneta Coliseum last June 4, 2011, to witness what may be this year's biggest K-Pop concert, 2NE1's The Party.
Before the scheduled date, rumors circulated that the all-girl group composed of CL (Lee Chae Rin), Bom (Park Bom Lee), Dara (Sandara Park) and Minzy (Gong Min-ji) would be performing only five songs.
But after a series of talks between the managers and producers, the repertoire turned out to be a total of eight songs—"Fire," "Go Away," "Please Don't Go," "Lonely," "Can't Nobody," "I Don't Care," "Clap Your Hands"—plus "In Or Out," a hit by one member who used to be popular in local showbiz as Sandara Park.
FRONT ACT. Opening the show was Tecky Romantics, an electronica trio composed of Camyl Besinga, Ryan Villena, and Dondi Virrey.
Next, Christian Bautista melted the hearts of female fans with his versions of "Just the Way You Are" and "Love Moves in Mysterious Ways," including his OPM hit "The Way You Look At Me," which he dedicated to Dara.
Giselle Sanchez had the crowd in stitches with her impersonation of the former Star Magic talent.
Meanwhile, the Bloomfields delivered a set of nostalgic sound— "What I Like About You," "Panaginip," "Sigaw Ng Dibdib," and "Express Highway," while Calalily rocked the stage with "Stars," "Liwanag," "Wala Na Tayo," "Susundan," and "Magbalik."
Lastly, the Philippine All-Stars performed an electrifying Usher medley.
BRIEF CHAT WITH DARA. Backstage, Christian Bautista had the chance to exchange a few words with the Star Circle Quest second-placer.
"Dara is the same girl we know from before. She is charming, pretty, and very warm to people around her," said Christian. "Nakaka-miss din siya talaga."
