She seems shy.
But wait till you see her credentials as a commercial model. Before Willie Revillame introduced her as a co-host in the Wowowee showback in April 2010, Kelly Misa was already a familiar face on television given her shampoo, beauty product, and fried chicken ads.
"I enjoyed that," the chinita beauty said, referring to her brief stint in the defunct afternoon show of ABS-CBN.
Kelly was already 25 when showbiz beckoned, and realized, "It has always been my secret dream."
On the heels of her hosting job came acting projects in Elias Paniki, M3: Malay Mo Ma-develop, and Kristine.
Then, "I've been on a break."
At the Enderun Colleges Atrium in McKinley, where the launch of Narciso Rodriguez For Her perfume took place last June 28, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to catch up with this charming Pinay, who—by the way—is set to become a bride next year.
UPCOMING PROJECTS. Her face lit up as she talked about her guesting in Pidol's Wonderland this week. "But that's a super small part," she said.
Kelly added with much enthusiasm, "They said there would be taping na. Because for a long time, I've been gone. Wala na ako sa TV. Na-miss ko siya. Ang tagal-tagal na, like, nami-miss ko na rin to be on the screen.
"Iba kapag sa TV ka. Iba rin with the crew, with the directors, the co-actors, parang iba rin yung feeling talaga. Parang, I'm excited!
"Hopefully, magtuloy-tuloy. But we'll see, I'm pretty busy naman right now. I wouldn't want to divide myself too much na wala na akong time for myself."
She's now a freelance talent, and the sitcom of Dolphy may not be her last in TV5.
"I'm open naman, like my manager is still handling it. I'm not gonna be locked with any station," quipped the lady who finished her Organizational Communication course in De La Salle University.
In the coming days, she'll target becoming visible again.
The beauty columnist said, "I'm expecting to do more kahit small, exciting role. I'm open naman. Hosting has always been my first love, then writing...But if there any offers, okay lang."
What if Willie invites her to Wil Time Big Time?
Her reply: "I think it's kinda crowded na now. I watch once in a while. I'm not sure if they would require my [talent]...But I would love to guest. I miss the show, the whole crew, and everyone."
She seems more resolute now in going after her showbiz dream.
With a smile, she said, "Parang ganun na nga...I never had the guts to pursue it until now. Never ko na-feel na I was comfortable with my own skin to do it because you really need to expose yourself, di ba."
And it doesn't matter if she starts with bit roles. Kelly said she perfectly understands the rules of the game.
"I mean it takes a lot talaga—maraming sacrifices in showbiz, maraming required. For me naman, I'm taking it day by day."
Lastly, she may seem shy, but this lady is more than ready to shine, and has what it takes to be a star.
