Celebrities Christine Bersola-Babao and Julius Babao are both busy with their jobs on radio and television.
However, as parents, they make sure that their work does not affect their responsibilities towards their two kids Antonia, 5, and Antonio, 1.
In a short chat with the couple recently, Christine (popularly called Tin-Tin) said it's very important to spend time with children.
This is vital, according to her, in teaching them core family values, especially during their formation years.
"Spend time with kids, as much as possible," she reiterated.
Turning to her husband Julius, she related one instance to show how he gives full attention to their kids.
"I really admire my husband kasi kahit gaano ka-busy 'yan...
"Everyday may radio, everyday may Bandila, 'tapos kapag weekend may dzMM kaming dalawa at may XXX pa 'yan.
"But, you know, last night, when Antonia was crying and I had to go somewhere, I had to tape for a show, he stayed at home and they watched Bratz together.
"So, ang last image when I left the house, before I closed the door, magkayakap silang mag-ama sa harap ng TV."
She exclaimed, "Treasured moment 'yon! Kasi, kahit gaano siya ka-busy, he finds time, and he will drop anything kapag kailangan."
RECOGNIZING FAMILIES WITH GOOD VALUES. Local fast food chain Jollibee tapped the couple to be part of the judges in its first Family Value Awards.
This recognition aims to honor Filipino families whose strong and joyful ties help and inspire their communities in unique ways.
The nationwide search will choose five winning families from Mega Manila, Luzon, Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Each will receive P100,000 cash prize, a trophy, and P10,000 worth of Jollibee gift certificates.
For a family to be included in the contest, one must nominate them by simply accomplishing the nomination form available in all Jollibee branches and on its official website. He/she should also answer a separate questionnaire on the nominees' suitability and eligibility.
Deadline for submission for entries is on or before August 31.
The families will be judged according to the following criteria: 40% for family values, 40% for their impact in the community, 10% for the degree of participation of the family, and another 10% for uniqueness of story.
Shortlisted nominees will be interviewed and will be required to submit supporting documents.
Joining Tin-Tin and Julius as a judge are Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman, and parenting columnist Cathy Babao-Guballa.
The awarding ceremony will be held on the last week of September, which will coincide with the celebration of National Family Week.
"It's good na may awards na ganito because we can at least share 'yong mga benefits ng having a good family," said Julius as he encouraged Filipinos to join this contest.
He also pointed out, "It's really important na ma-emphasize natin ang importance ng family sa mga Pilipino sa panahon ngayon."
