A local fast-food chain has launched a program to tap the talents of "8 of the most promising local artists today."

In a media and bloggers' night last August 1 held at Teatrino Greenhills, Mang Inasal Philippines Inc. officially launched its "Mang Inasal Mang Aawit Music Advocacy Program," which aims to support Original Pinoy Music (OPM).

Chosen for talent, commercial appeal, and innovative spirit, the "8 Mang Aawits" include artists from different genres such as alternative pop, acoustic, RnB, and ballad.

In the roster are: Korean boyband counterpart 1:43, Sony Music's Stephanie Dan, RnB singer Arnee Hidalgo, Zirkoh stand-up comedian and radio host Onse, OPM advocate Myrus, former Pinoy Dream Academy contestant Sheng Belmonte, pop band Kiss Jane known for songs "Lagi" and "Baliw," and acoustic singer-composer Aries Sales.

The chosen 8 will be given funding to record two promotional songs and produce a music video that will be played in Mang Inasal branches all over the country. At the end of the year, the songs will be compiled into one album.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to talk to acoustic singer/composer Aries Sales during event where he sang his single, "Miss Masungit."

The 23-year-old guitar man said the song is about a girl who snubs a boy in a coffee shop.

Aries, who started singing and playing at 14, recently recorded "Ikaw pa Rin," a song inspired by a friend's personal experience.

Aries hails from Davao and is only one of the talented 8 who hopes to find his place in the music indistry.
