Cristalle Henares on pursuing success: "Pakinggan niyo yung puso niyo."


Cristalle Henares doesn't consider herself rich despite the growing success of Belo Essentials. "Still a long way to go," she says.

Her aspirations are simple, but the opportunities before her are humongous.

Cristalle Henares is bound for great things.

And it's not because she's the daughter of Dra. Vicki Belo, the lady who owns and runs a multi-million dollar beauty empire.

The 28-year-old Cristalle has cracked the formula for success at a young age: "Pakinggan niyo ang puso niyo."

Having money is one thing; but knowing what to do with money is equally important especially if you want to venture into business.

She told (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the launch of SM's Beauty Within, "Siyempre, kailangan talaga natin gawin ang gusto natin. Alam niyo po yung totoo... yung tinatawag nilang instinct. Try niyo pakinggan."

Cristalle initially wanted to become a doctor like her mom. "Sinabi niya sa akin, pumunta sa med school. And, nag-try ako. Pero after one semester, sabi ko, 'Hindi ko talaga... Hindi sa hindi kaya, kasi, matalino naman ako.' Kayang-kaya ko gawin iyon. Pero hindi lang talaga ako masaya. Wala yung passion, wala yung joy sa puso ko."


At present, she is the managing director of Intelligent Skin Care, Inc., which handles Belo Essentials.

The job has propelled the once shy Cristalle into the limelight. But she clarified that her life is not all about partying and looking glamorous.

She gives this advice: "Huwag kayo palaging nagpa-party-party. Maghanap din ng oras na kausapin mo yung sarili mo. Kasi minsan, alam na alam ng instinct mo, ng spirit yun. Kailangan lang ng silence minsan para mapakinggan [kung] ano yung sinasabi ng spirit, kung saan ka gina-guide."

Is she already part of the so-called rich list?

"Not at all!" she exclaimed. "I mean sa lahat naman, parang binabalik sa business, so I'm not."

The company is definitely growing and expanding, but there's still a lot of work to be done.

She related, "We think of different products. We look at the demand, the trends, yun yung importante. [We also rely] on gut-feel. Ano ba napi-feel mo na magwo-work? Ano yung napi-feel mo na sasabog, na magiging popular?


"You don't get to this level so easily. You have to invest a lot of hours. At saka kailangan, committed. Kailangan alam mo yung gusto mo. Lahat ng efforts mo, dun mo ilalagay."

With enthusiasm, she preempted a project in the works.

"Meron kaming bagong campaign for Belo Nutraceuticals. It uses a very influential woman — na before, she was afraid to face the crowd, she was afraid to face the camera. Now, she is fearless because she is beautiful. And there's power in beauty."

And how does she define beauty?

"Beauty is the aura of a woman. It's the confidence she exudes. It's a mixture of, you know, parang having a great body and great skin.

"Para sa 'kin kasi, skin is very important. When I talk to makeup artists, sinasabi nila it's so easy, na ang ganda-ganda ng skin mo, okay siya.

"It's like a palette. You're giving them a nice, mahal na ceramic palette as opposed to something na kinuha mo sa basura, kasi, baku-bako yung isa.


"So, ang hirap... it's a palette you work on and it's hard to work on a palette kung hindi siya smooth, kung hindi [siya] clear.

"So, we really emphasize that great skin is the first step to being beautiful."

Going back to success, she reiterated the need to listen to one's heart.

"That, and hard work, will take you to where you want to be," Cristalle said.
