Daniel Matsunaga likens Pinoys to Brazilians: "They're very similar, very happy people."

"Filipinos and Brazilians, they're very similar, very happy people. Even if they don't have money, they're okay, they're happy," says Brazilian-Japanese model Daniel Matsunaga, who is overwhelmed by the support of his Pinoy fans.

Daniel Matsunaga may not be a Filipino, but he is able to get the attention of Pinoys.

From the ramp to television, the half-Brazilian, half-Japanese model/endorser is slowly making a name for himself in the local showbiz industry.

And the newbie celebrity appreciates the support he's getting from his fans.

"I never thought this could happen to my life," said Daniel in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the media launch of his Wrangler Jeans endorsement held recently.

Daniel, who has been modeling in different countries, related how people initially treated him the first time he came to Manila.

"Of course, I worked from different countries, too. They recognize you a little bit in some places.

"But not like here. People here in the Philippines, they're very different. "

To illustrate further, Daniel narrated the usual reaction of people when they see him in public.

"If you go to a mall show, they don't know you, but if they knew you're an artista, they're like... everybody's there.

"I don't know, everybody's happy."

This Pinoy attitude is what really makes Daniel feel at home even if he's hundred miles away from Brazil.

"Filipinos and Brazilians, they're very similar, very happy people. Even if they don't have money, they're okay, they're happy."

To reciprocate the love from his Pinoy fans, Daniel promised to do his best to keep them entertained.

"I know I'm not good but I'm here to learn," he briefly said.

He also mentioned that having a clear objective would also help him to further his career in show business.

"I have future plans and determination to do it," Daniel told PEP.

KEEPING THE SPARK WITH GIRLFRIEND HEART. Being a celebrity, Daniel did not get away from questions about his actress girlfriend Heart Evangelista.

Heart and Daniel have been a couple for almost a year now, and he's proud of his relationship.

He stressed out how they put God in the middle of their relationship. He also mentioned that it is grounded on trust and good communication.

Since they're both in showbiz, their relationship is prone to controversy especially when one of them is being linked to another celebrity.

Would Daniel get jealous if that happens?

"Hindi dapat mag selosan," he replied.

"Heart and I are professionals, we understand the gravity of our jobs.

"Ganito talaga sa industry na 'to, but if your relationship is based on trust, then things will be okay."
