Bringing the Superstar back to the country was initially deemed a shot in the dark.
There had been several rumors reporting about Nora Aunor's impending return since 2009, but it did not become a reality until TV5 entered the picture.
"We have to get the details first. We were told na she'd to come home within a week's time," began Perci Intalan, the network's head of creative and entertainment production.
He continued, "When we learned about it, bumuo muna kami ng concept. It would be better kasi if she comes home na maayos na 'yon para when she arrives, ia-announce na niya.
"Everybody would be asking her, 'Bakit ka nandito, anong gagawin mo?'
"So within two or three days, nag-conceptualize kami. Gawa ako ng presentation sa management kasi totally, yung concept ay mini-serye...
"Inisa-isa ko pa 'yong mga boss ko, pinuntahan ko pa sila isa-isa kasi, hindi ko sila ma-gather together."
After getting the management's go-signal, he approached actress-director Suzette Ranillo, Nora's friend who also served as a conduit.
Moving on with his story, Perci related, "I told Suzette, 'So this is what we prepared to do, this is the topic...' That went very quickly."
Next thing he knew, he was already looking for a director.
"Hanap kami ng director, at naisip agad na si Direk Mario [O'Hara]. Sinabi namin agad sa kanya [Nora], at okay naman."
The negotiation, according to Perci, was "smooth and stressful dahil mabilisan."
He added, "Ang pinaka-challenge na lang na natira is to i-align with Gov. ER Ejercito's schedule to make sure na hindi mag-o-overlap sa presscon."
The governor of Laguna is producing the multi-awarded actress's comeback film El Presidente, where she will play Maria Agoncillo, the second wife of Emilio Aguinaldo.
When asked about the cost of flying in the Superstar from the U.S., the Kapatid executive refused to divulge the amount.
Smiling, he answered, "Of course, you have to offer something that is substantial. Siyempre, Superstar 'yan, e.
"Pero ito lang, hindi kami nagtawaran or anything. So, tama lang yung pasok namin, mabilis yung nego, e, with Kuya Germs, na kilala ng industriya na parang nagma-manage kay Ate Guy."
THE MINI-SERYE. Nora's first project on television after eight years of staying away from the limelight is titled Sa Ngalan ng Ina.
At the time of this interview, the cast had not been finalized.
He told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "Marami siyang kasama, hindi lang namin alam pa kung sino kasi under nego pa.
"May sariling presscon 'yon sigurado and bongga 'yon."
With much excitement, he mentioned the grand plans for the Superstar's comeback.
"In this project, aangat talaga yung acting. We hope that it will win her awards. It is just a matter of people remembering how good she is as actress.
"Maganda sana kung babalikan natin all the awards she has won, all the roles she portrayed, and all the landmarks movies na ginawa niya.
"Suzette is looking at screening for charity na screening. They're just checking 'yong old movies ni Ate Guy kung alin 'yong may access sila.
He dubbed the mini-series a "prestige project."
To elaborate, "There are some projects that you want to do because it has to be done. It's big and makikilala yung network.
"I think this is the one...I think the new generation will rediscover her kasi ang tagal na mula no'ng huli siyang nagka-project sa TV or film.
"So, tingin ko, ito na yun."
