The United Football League (UFL) made its third season debut last October 8 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, attracting 28 teams from Manila, Cebu, Iloilo and Baguio. UFL games are aired live on AKTV on IBC channel 13 every Saturday starting at 2pm.
The Azkals are playing in different teams - Phil and James Younghusband (Loyola Meralco Sparks), Angel Guirado and Misagh Bahadoran (Global FC), and Chieffy Caligdong and Ian Araneta (Air Force).
Celebrities such as Jake Cuenca, Daniel Matsunaga, Fabio Ide and Akihiro Sato also signed up with Team Socceroo while Derek Ramsay signed with Pachanga FC.
Last October 15, football fans enjoyed one of the most-awaited matches: the Younghusbands and their team, Loyola Meralco Sparks faced off against Team Socceroo with Brazilian models Daniel Matsunaga, Fabio Ide and Akihiro Sato in their line-up.
