For fashionista and Extreme Makeover Home Edition Philippines host Divine Lee, summer is the best time to dress up in fun colors.
“Now, summer, I’m going for all the colors,” she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview at the Watsons x Cosmopolitan magazine Switch and Save event last April 28 at the SM Megamall activity center.
Her advice for every girl out there: “Mag-color blocking sila, mag-brights sila, now is the time talaga to do it.”
The color trends today vary between neons, pastels, and the standard solid nautical shades.
Whichever you fancy, Divine says, it’s best to pick clothes with soft and comfortable fabrics in order to beat the summer heat.
“Chiffon is big now. Iyong mga see-through na tela, very sheer, maganda iyon.”
Summer is also the time to step out in fancy swimwear, of course.
For Divine, it’s not advisable to buy whatever looks pretty in the store rack.
“For bathing suits naman, I think wala naman kasing specific fad.
“It’s more of kung ano iyong body type mo para iyon iyong babagayan [ng swimsuit].”
Her top advice: Know your body shape.
“Do your research before ka bumili ng swimsuit,” she says, especially for those who have unique figures.
“Usually ako, kahit saan ako [nakakabili].
"Minsan may nakikita ako sa Internet, sa mall, pero ako kasi hindi pareho iyong size ng bottom and upper ko so kailangan ko talaga mostly pagawa.”
Her top pick for local swimwear designer?
“Charina Sarte would be number one for me kasi magaling talaga siya and I guess na-memorize na niya iyong katawan ko, kaya magaling na siyang gumawa ng swimsuit sa akin.”
What styles does she usually go for?
“I prefer talaga, well, I’m more kasi, because I want tan lines, I prefer talaga iyong two-piece.”
While Divine can practically fit into any type of swimsuit with her slender body, she has advice for women who are not confident enough in showing their abs.
“Now meron mga nauuso na halimbawa kung medyo mapuson, iyong mataas na panty.
“So bongga na rin iyon pati iyong medyo mapuson, iyong medyo you feel a little embarrassed na makita siya, may mga two-piece na na swimsuits na gano’n.”
Her other options for curvy girls are cutout maillots and swimdresses.
