At the launch of Red Cross Million Volunteer Run last May 8, we spotted former child star Ella Guevarra on stage, where she led the youth in singing the organization's jingle.

Remember Ella Guevarra?

She's the kid who didn't bag the grand prize on the defunct StarStruck Kids, but became one of GMA-7's busiest child stars from 2004 until 2008.

She even won Best Child Actress five times in a row.

But after playing the young Anna (portrayed by Regine Velasquez) in Totoy Bato, she dropped out of the primetime block.

Why did she leave showbiz?

"Nag-focus lang po sa studies," said Ella, who now stands about 5'3".

The 13-year-old teen is now enjoying the life of a regular student busy with youth-oriented activities such as the Million Volunteer Run of Red Cross, which was officially launched last May 8, at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia.

"Last year po, tumakbo rin po ako. Pero after the event po, support po ako sa mga iba pang activities..."

Leaving the limelight was her choice, she said.

"School po muna yung inuuna ko," she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

In her spare time, she was able to shoot Graceland, an indie film.

"Yun po at saka itong mga ganitong activities ang pinagkakaabalahan ko," she added.

Does she have plans of going back to showbiz?

"Opo," was her quick reply.

"Pero gusto ko po muna na matapos yung school ko para hindi na po mahirap sa hinaharap.

"Para after pong mag-artista, may gagawin din po ako."

When asked who among the tween actors she would want to be paired with, she said: "Kahit sino po... Ang network naman ang nagde-desisyon po nun, e. Kung sino yung sa tingin nila ay okay, okay din ako..."

We had to end the interview here as some youth volunteers were waiting for a photo op with Ella.
