Andrea del Rosario enjoys managing the business that she put up with her friends. Yet she believes she cannot say goodbye to showbiz completely.

From being a member of the sexy group Viva Hot Babes, to being a mom, and now an entrepreneur.

Indeed, Andrea del Rosario has been through a lot of changes in her career and personal life.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had an exclusive interview with her last May 23, at the opening of Longganisa Sopresa at Maysilo Circle, Mandaluyong City.

This store is Andrea’s business with two of her friends, and in Maysilo is the third branch they’ve opened.

They put up their very first store in 2009 at SM North Edsa. As they opened for business, Andrea took a two-year entrepreneurship course at Ateneo Business School.

Their branch in Kapitolyo, Pasig City, followed the next year. Now they’re working on the fourth branch which will be located in Makati City.

BRIGHT IDEA. This 35-year-old hot momma didn’t really plan to start a business.

The idea started as Andrea was having a good time with her girl friends.

“Wala lang, napag-isipan lang namin ng mga kaibigan ko,” she related.

“Actually noong nag-start kami, ‘yong isa kong manager up to now, school mate ko no’ng high school. She took up naman HRM [Hotel and Restaurant Management], so ‘yon, we developed naman the idea and this happened.

“We also have din another school mate na chef naman siya, nabuo lang [ang idea] na gano’n.”

Though she admits she’s not good in cooking, Andrea says longganisa is one of her favorite foods.

Since longganisa is popularly known only for breakfast and pulutan, she thought, why not make it the highlight of the restaurant?

The former sexy actress recalls, “It’s my favorite, na every time magso-show kami sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Pilipinas, lagi akong bumibili no’ng nakabalot ng dyaryo.

“Siyempre, I came up with the idea coz nakakain natin ‘yong longganisa platter pulutan. It was never like the highlight of a restaurant, and I was just wondering why, why not?

“So ‘yon lang, we just decided to put it in one restaurant, and para na rin siyang to educate the Filipinos that there are like how many varieties ng longganisa.”

But, even though she has ventured into business, Andrea says she cannot leave showbiz completely.

“You know, bumalik ako sa pag-aaral. I took up Fine Arts way, way back in college and it had nothing to do with business.

“That’s why parang I wanted to… parang pag-a-artista ‘yan, e, kapag matagal kang hindi umarte kinakalawang ka din.

“Hindi naman talaga nagiging totally goodbye ang showbiz, e, di ba, laging nand’yan lang ‘yan.

“I mean, there are other things na na-realize ko, that I need to prioritize right now, especially now that I have a baby.”
