Celebrity stylist Liz Uy and some fashion insights

Her only fashion tip: "As long as you know your body well, you know what to hide and what to flaunt."

From behind the scenes, Liz Uy is now at the forefront.

The woman who is usually surrounded by stars but shuns showbiz is the newest face of Plains & Prints.

"Launch ko 'to!" she yelled with a laugh when the clothing brand officially introduced her as its ambassador on June 26, at Glorietta 1, Makati City.

Although media interviews are not her thing, she obliged when PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked her to talk about fashion.

Here are a few insights from one of the country's top celebrity stylists:

1. “There are no basic looks for me. Every day is a different look for me."

Some value comfort. Others are conscious about style. But people usually forget that fashion should be fun!

For Liz, she wouldn't be caught wearing a "plain dress and a belt" ensemble.

That's why her usual attire when at work is a "jumpsuit."

Liz adds in her interview with StyleBible.ph, "When I'm doing print shoots, I wear heels. For TVC shoots, I wear flats."

2. There are no do's and don'ts in fashion.

She tells PEP, “As long as you know your body well, you know what to hide and what to flaunt.”

The fashion editor-at-large of Preview is referring to the different body shapes: pear, hourglass, apple, rectangle, oval, diamond and inverted triangle.

But that's just talking about the "horizontal body type," according to StyleMakeoverHQ.

It's also important to assess your "vertical body proportions"— short legs, long torso; balanced body; long legs, short torso — to identify the proper length of your clothes.

The site's image consultant Jane Liddelow said, "You can create the illusion of a perfect body by choosing clothes to create the appearance of perfect proportions.

"It's all about balancing your perceived shape to the perfect shape (or moving your appearance in that direction, anyway)."

Lastly, Liz's best fashion tip (without her mentioning it), always be at your best.
