On July 2, YES! Magazine launched its 2012 edition of the annual 100 Most Beautiful Stars issue through a grand press conference held at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Quezon City.
A total of 28 stars—all part of the list—gamely posed for pictures and answered questions from some members of the press.
KAPATID STARS. First to arrive at the venue was TV5 talent Ritz Azul, who told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that her inclusion in the list is, “Nakakabigla po talaga.
“Hindi ko talaga in-expect kasi siyempre baguhan lang ako, tapos napansin po nila ako.”
Her former Glamorosa co-star Alice Dixson—perennially known as one of showbiz’s prettiest face since the 1990s—was also there.
Other Kapatid stars were there, too, like Mart Escudero—who made waves when he confidently portrayed a gay character in the indie film Zombadings I: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington—and Edgar Allan Guzman—who is now a multi-awarded performer courtesy of his part in Liga na U, Lapit na Me.
Character actors Ronnie Lazaro, who is the sole entry in the list’s Idol category, and Cherry Pie Picache also arrived.
When Cherry Pie was asked what she thinks is the most attractive part of her body, she answered with full confidence, “My body!”
KAPUSO STARS. GMA-7 artists also came in full force, led by Gabby Eigenmann who is recognized as one of showbiz’s top “solid” supporting actors.
Young hunks Rocco Nacino, and Carl Guevarra also graced the event, together with sexy actresses Lovi Poe, Rochelle Pangilinan, LJ Reyes, and Bela Padilla.
Pretty ladies Kris Bernal, Kylie Padilla, Max Collins, Barbie Forteza, Bea Binene, Joyce Ching, and Janine Gutierrez also made an appearance.
As well as tween heartthrobs Jake Vargas, Derrick Monasterio, and Kristoffer Martin.
KAPAMILYA STARS. Representing ABS-CBN’s pool of beautiful stars were actresses Erich Gonzales and Dimples Romana.
And budding matinee idols Jake Cuenca and Martin Del Rosario.
Of course, this year’s cover girl—who is also the most beautiful star of 2012—Anne Curtis graced the launch.
MOST BEAUTIFUL STAR. YES! editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Q. Maglipon was on board during the press conference to explain why the staff picked Anne Curtis to be their cover girl this year.
“It was a unanimous decision of the [editorial] staff.
“Ang proseso niyan, the staff make their own personal list and then they submit it and then we deliberate.
“And doon sa mga listahan na iyon, paulit-ulit na lumalabas ang pangalan ni Anne, so wala namang contest doon that Anne is the unanimous choice.”
Anne was overwhelmed and grateful for the recognition that the country’s top entertainment magasine has given her.
SIDELIGHTS. The program was hosted by radio DJ Sam YG and the press conference was facilitated by Manay Ethel Ramos.
Vocal group Akafellas 2 provided entertainment for the guests by performing live a capella and beat-box renditions of RnB hits “ Play that funky music,” I got a feeling,” Teenage Dream,” “Just the way you are.”
YES! Magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful Stars issue is out now on newsstands.
