The Smashing Pumpkins is a band that any real music fan must see live – to hear the advanced music, to witness the visuals they’ve come to be known for and to engage all your senses in Pumpkin Land.

Rock fans, get ready for one of the biggest alternative rock bands of the 90’s, Smashing Pumpkins, coming to Manila.

The Smashing Pumpkins came from Chicago in 1988, formed by frontman Billy Corgan (lead vocals, lead guitar) with original members James Iha (rhythm guitar), D’arcy Wretzky (bass guitar) and Jimmy Chamberlin (drums).

The Pumpkins have a diverse, densely layered, and guitar-heavy sound. Containing elements of gothic rock, grunge, heavy metal, dream pop, psychedelic rock, progressive rock, shoe gaze style production, and, in later recordings, electronica.

As a band, the Pumpkins have created some of the most acclaimed works in musical history. They sold more than 30 million albums, and won multiple Grammy awards in the process. Gish, their influential platinum debut in 1991 was formed in 1988, followed by nine-platinum Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness and the four-time platinum Siamese Dream, as well as the platinum- certified 1998 album Adore. The group's music continually plays on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.

New Pumpkins. The current band members are 22-year old Mike Byrne on drums, Nicole Fiorentino, on bass who also plays for Veruca Salt [alternative rock band], Korean-America Jeff Shroeder on rhytm guitar – this is the same band line-up behind their album Oceania, which is way different from the albums where Billy Corgan played most of the instruments.

Oceania, has kept the Pumpkins vibe, it is still epic and emotional as a Pumpkins record should be, but with a modern twist. Corgan states that Oceania is the strongest band offering since 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, the double album dubbed by time as “the group’s most ambitious and accomplished work yet” which includes award winning song Bullet with Butterfly Wings, as well as Tonight, Tonight, 1979 and others. Oceania is unlike any other album Corgan has made, largely in part to the significant contributions of his new band members.
