It was in the 1990’s when Lindsay Custodio had her share of the limelight as one of ABS-CBN's sought-after young actresses and singers.
She was part of the first batch of artists launched by Star Magic—known then as ABS-CBN Talent Center—through the afternoon comedy/variety show Ang TV.
After the show ended its first run in 1997, Lindsay slowly began to step away from the spotlight; until she settled for a quiet, non-showbiz life.
Today, she is happily married to Tanauan, Batangas Vice Mayor Julius Caesar Platon.
They have two children together : Sean, 10, and Charisse, 6.
MAINTAINING HER FIGURE. At the 6th Star Magic Ball, held September 1 at the Shangri-la hotel in Makati, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to catch up with Lindsay, who seemed like she didn’t age at all.
Inevitably, she was asked to reveal her secret behind a well-maintained figure.
“Siguro dahil mabait ang aking asawa, magaling siyang mag-alaga, and walang binibigay na problema,” she quipped.
Is she following a certain diet plan?
“No naman, but I try to control the rice lang minsan.
“Kaya lang kapag masarap ang ulam, talagang malakas pa rin akong kumain!” she noted, which is why she tries to exercise regularly to control her weight.
“I exercise, but I exercise at home, hindi na iyong nag-gy-gym. Kasi nga I don’t really have time to go to the gym.
“Aerobics, gano’n lang, and siguro nakatulong din iyong mga mommy time,” she says.
HANDS-ON MOM. Lindsay calls herself a hands-on mom to her two kids.
It was a mutual decision between her and her husband that she stays home with the children and become a full-time housewife.
“Kasi my husband, nala-line siya into politics.
“Alam mo naman ang trabaho ng public servant, always nasa labas sila, nasa mga barangay, so he’s very busy.
“So, napag-usapan namin talaga na it’s really very important that’s there’s one parent na talagang tututok sa mga bata.
“Although my husband is very hands-on din, he’s a hands-on father, kaya lang because of his work kaya medyo limited iyong kanyang time.”
SHOWBIZ. Having sacrificed her showbiz career for her family, Lindsay admits she still misses being in front of the camera sometimes.
“Siyempre naman, oo, definitely with singing kasi it’s my first love talaga,” she reveals.
During her prime, Lindsay was able to release several studio albums, including My First and New Horizons.
She was also featured in the official soundtrack of movies Hataw Na (1995), Flames: The Movie (1997), and Gimik: The Reunion (1999).
Aside from singing, Lindsay says she also misses acting and hanging out with her former co-stars on the set of Ang TV.
“[Nami-miss ko] during taping days, of course, mga bata pa kasi kami noon.
“It was so much fun kasi hindi pa namin nare-realize na it’s work that we’re doing.
“We were just having fun and just doing what we like to do—like singing and acting.”
While she has no definite plans of returning to showbiz anytime soon, Lindsay is open to the idea of letting her own children join the industry someday.
“Kung gusto nila, why not?
“Hindi ako magiging hindrance sa kung ano man ang gusto nilang marating in the future.
“As parents, we’re just here lang naman to guide them and help them to be whatever they want to be in the future.”
