Take it from former Survivor Philippines winner and hunk actor JC Tiuseco, who attracts girls with his six-pack abs.
“You really need vitamin C,” he said in a short chat with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the Berocca Night on Full Blast held at Maxim’s Hotel in Pasay City recently.
He briefly explained, “Kasi, after the workout, you really need the vitamin C for the muscles para maka-recover.”
He related his personal experience about its benefit after a workout, “Na-try ko na I didn’t use vitamin C or any vitamins at all for like a month.
“‘Tapos, I still work out, like, intensely, mapi-feel mo na parang ang tight ng body mo, laging sore.”
According to health and fitness website www.livestrong.com, vitamin C acts as “antioxidant and radical scavenger, which works to counterbalance the production of free radicals in your cells, post workout.”
Furthermore, “Vitamin C helps your body to use fats, proteins and carbohydrates.
“As a direct scavenger of damaging radicals, vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that protects your body against harmful free radical damage.
“Vitamin C plays an important role in the regeneration of vitamin E during periods of oxidative stress, can enhance physical performance, helps with iron absorption, the transport of oxygen within your bloodstream, energy production, protein metabolism and to preserve your immune system functioning.”
Aside from JC, there were other celebrities during the event who encouraged people to regularly take vitamin C.
These include celebrity couple Divine Lee and Victor Basa, TV personality Raymond Gutierrez, former TV host Kiko Rustia, and radio DJs Sam YG and Slick Rick.
