Actress-host Gladys Reyes is a proud full-time mother to her three children, Christoph, 6; Aquisha, 4; and Grant, 2. She juggles taking care of her family and hosting Net25's MOMents and the new GMA-7 morning show Nay 1-1. Both programs delve into motherhood.

At the moment, Gladys Reyes feels blessed to be doing two things she loves most— hosting shows and being a full-time mother.

The host of Net25’s MOMents adds another show on her plate as she and singer-mother Jaya Ramsay team up in GMA-7’s latest offering, Nay 1-1.

As “Agent-Nays” Gladys and Jaya, the two real-life mothers will be sent on a mission every day from Monday to Friday to answer the emergency calls of mothers experiencing problems in the domestic area.

The program will be aired starting November 12, after early morning show Unang Hirit.

At the pocket press conference held Wednesday night, November 7, at the 17th floor of the GMA Network building, the blooming 35-year-old actress said, “Isa ito sa mga gusto kong gawin, e— maging host, maging nanay full-time, magbigay inspirasyon.”

Gladys expressed how happy she is to be a part of a program that is informative and relevant to Filipina mothers as she herself is proud to be one.

She told the press, “Ako naman, proud ako talaga na sinasabi ko na I’m a very hands-on mom.

“I breastfed all my kids. Until now, I’m breast-feeding my youngest who’s turning two this November.

The applauded kontrabida actress is the mother of Christoph, 6; Aquisha, 4; and Grant, who is almost 2.

She and her husband, former actor Christopher Roxas, have been a showbiz couple for 20 years now.

PRICELESS FEELING. Gladys and Jaya were chosen among a pool of celebrity mothers to host the Kapuso network's Nay 1-1.

Beaming, the actress said, “Sa dinami-daming talent ng GMA, at sa iba pa, di ba, bakit ako na hindi naman talent nila dito, di ba?”

While she admits that being managed by Lolit Solis— also a showbiz personality identified with the Kapuso network— has bearing, she pointed out that it is also her passion for hosting that got her the job.

During the one-on-one interview, Gladys mentioned that nothing makes her happier than someone complimenting her acting, “Uy! Ang galing mo dun mag-kontrabida” and being told, “Ang galing mong nanay!”

“Kasi walang katumbas po yun!,” she gushed.

“Walang halong ano yun, pretension. Maiiyak ka!”

STABLE MARRIAGE. More than anything, Gladys is proud of her stable marriage with Christopher. She and her husband have been a real-life showbiz couple since she was 14 and he was 12.

How have they managed to remain together without showbiz ruining their relationship?

Gladly, the actress shared the secret: “Ang formula, sa totoo lang [ay] three P’s. Tatlong P yan—

“Patience, mahabang-mahabang pasensiya. Lalo na sa part ng mga babae.

“And lastly, yung partnership.”

She elaborated on the last key term, “Hindi totoo na babae lang yung key para magtagal ang isang relasyon.

“Totoo yung 'it takes two to tango'. Kasi kapag yung babae lang yung may kagustuhan na mag-last kayo, yung lalaki happy-go-lucky forever, walang mangyayari!

For the rest of your life.”

Both Gladys and Christopher, adherents of the Iglesia ni Cristo, are firm in passing on the values of their church to their children.

The actress also credited her parents for her views on marriage: “Siguro malaking tulong yung ako exposed ako sa mga magulang ko na very intact din yung family namin.

When the actress was teased about being the nagger and the outspoken one between her and Christopher, Gladys retorted, “Siyempre minsan, siguro yung pagiging matalak ko lang, I’m just so excited, I just can’t hide it!”

Kidding aside, she said, “Dapat po ako, yung babae. Kasi nga, unang-una, maaga kaming nag-start ng relationship. Twelve [years old] siya, fourteen ako. Mara Clara days.

“Anong aasahan mo sa isang twelve years old na lalaki?

“Siyempre, naa-appreciate ko yun sa asawa ko at, higit sa lahat, hindi babaero!” she said with much emphasis on the last word.

Asked if she is certain about it, Gladys replied, “Sure na sure ako. Hundred percent! Kasi nararamdaman ko yun. Damang-dama ko yun gabi-gabi! Charot!”

SIGNIFICANT BONDING. The actress makes it a point to spend time with her kids whenever she can. She foresees that one day, all three of them will be grown-ups and their time together will be lessened.

Lumaki kaagad. Hindi ko nakasama.”

She pointed out, “Kaya ako nag-breastfeed nang ganung katagal.

“Iba yung bonding, yung nagtititigan kami ng anak ko Ginaganun-ganun yung mukha mo,” she said while gently poking her face with both her hands.

FIRST TIME HOSTING IN GMA-7. On a different note, Gladys is pleased to be hosting a GMA-7 show for the first time.

If I will be given a chance na mag-soap dito, hopefully hindi kontrabida, para naman mag-match dun sa Nay 1-1 na ano natin.

Para makita nila yung different side of being a kontrabida ko at yung side na pagiging nanay ko and host.”

Always feisty, she said she was ready for anything that the network is willing to hand her.
