The Year of the Water Snake won’t begin until February 10, but already the celebration has started at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel’s Spiral buffet.
From February 4 to 17, and for the last time on the 24th, executive Chinese chef Chee Wah Mok will whip up a special menu that can surely make guests feel lucky and blessed on Chinese New Year.
Included in the roster is a Chinese raw fish salad dish called Yee Sang, which is believed to bring happiness, good luck, and many offsprings to married couples.
An eight-treasure fish lip soup will also be served along with a variety of wok-fried favorites, such as scallop with XO chili sauce and sparerib with Cantonese-style golden garlic.
Singaporean dish Bak Kut Teh will also be made available at the buffet’s noodle station, and will be served with complimentary roasted Peking duck.
And for dessert, warm sweetened coconut milk with potato and warm papaya white fungus soup for more prosperity and harmony.
While dining, guests can enjoy watching a live dragon and lion dance performance, which will take place on the evenings of February 9 and 10.
And also on Feb 10, a fashion show featuring the creations of Dubai-based Filipino designer Albert Andrada, will take place during brunch time.
The fashion collection is said to be inspired by the blues and whites of Chinese porcelain wares.
A raffle will also take place, wherein guests can win prizes from Japanese makeup brand Shu Uemura and a custom made Cheongsam— a traditional Chinese outfit— from Andrada.
Fixed brunch and dinner rates will apply for the festivities.
